SPAM® is not something I eat often but when I do, I like it extra crispy. I found a can in the pantry and decided to give it a go in the air fryer. The outside was far crispier than you get in a skillet on the stovetop and the inside stayed nice and tender.

This dish can be perfect for parties or a quick snack when you don't want to cook anything complicated. Using an air fryer to cook spam makes the dish healthy and crispy without the need for oil. In this article, we will provide you with valuable tips for making air fryer spam fries with spicy dipping sauce recipes.

Tips for making perfect air fryer spam fries

1. Choose the right spam
The type of spam that you use will play a significant role in the taste and texture of your air fryer spam fries. Choose a good-quality spam, preferably low-sodium or turkey spam. This will not only make your dish tastier, but it will also be healthier. Make sure you buy the right size of spam, so it fits in the air fryer basket without having to cut the spam too small.
2. Slice the spam correctly
The size of your spam slices will determine how crispy and evenly cooked your spam fries will be. Slice your spam into thin pieces, preferably 1/4 -inch thick. Make sure your slices are uniform in thickness to ensure even cooking. You can use a mandoline or a sharp knife to slice the spam.
3. Preheat the air fryer
Preheating the air fryer before cooking will make sure that the spam fries are crispy and well-cooked. Set your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and preheat it for 3-5 minutes. This will also help to reduce the cooking time of your spam fries.
4. Space out the spam slices
Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket, as this will make your spam fries stick together and cook unevenly. It is best to cook in small batches, leaving space between the spam slices so that they cook evenly. If you want to make a large batch, remove the cooked spam fries and place them in a dish while cooking the rest.
5. Flip the spam fries
Flip the spam fries halfway through the cooking process to ensure that both sides are evenly cooked. This will also help to make the spam fries crispy on both sides. You can use tongs to flip the spam fries or shake the basket to flip them.

Tips for making spicy dipping sauce

1. Choose the right spice level
When making spicy dipping sauce, it is best to balance the amount of spice with other flavors. If you are not sure of the spice level, start with a small amount of the spice and adjust it based on your taste preferences. Remember, it is easier to add more spice than to take it away.
2. Mix the dipping sauce well
For maximum flavor, mix all of the dipping sauce ingredients well. This will ensure that the flavors are well-combined and enhance the taste of the dish. Shake the dipping sauce ingredients together in a jar or mix them in a bowl.
3. Adjust the dipping sauce consistency
Dipping sauce can be made thick or thin, depending on your preference. If you want your dipping sauce to be thick, use less liquid. If you want it to be thinner, add more liquid. Adjust the consistency of the sauce to make it easier to dip the spam fries.
4. Store the dipping sauce well
Leftover dipping sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. This will make it easier to use for future dishes or as a marinade. Make sure you label the container with the date and contents to avoid confusion.

Conclusion
