AIR FRYER JALAPEñO POPPERS WITH BACON

Air Fryer Jalapeño Poppers with Bacon image

These bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers were my dad's go-to party recipe and always a huge hit! He baked them in the oven, but I've discovered they cook in the air fryer in less than one-fourth of the time!

Provided by Jaymee Sire

Categories     side-dish

Time 30m

Yield 10 large or 20 small jalapeño poppers

Number Of Ingredients 5

5 large jalapeños (or 10 small to medium jalapeños)
4 to 6 ounces cream cheese, softened slightly
10 slices thick-cut bacon
1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
Juice from 1/2 lime (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat an air fryer to 375 degrees F (if preheating is necessary; see Cook's Note for oven directions).
  • Slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise and remove the ribs and seeds (see Cook's Note). Using a small rubber spatula or spoon, fill the jalapeño halves with the cream cheese. If using large jalapeños, wrap each half with 1 slice of the bacon, tucking in the ends. (If using smaller jalapeños, cut each slice of bacon in half crosswise before wrapping.)
  • Place the jalapeños (cream cheese side up) in a single layer in the air fryer and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the bacon is cooked through and crispy.
  • Allow to cool slightly and sprinkle with the cilantro and lime juice, if using, and serve!

Air Fryer Okra Poppers Recipe by Tasty image

Put a Southern twist on classic poppers by using okra instead of jalapeños. These are filled with creamy pimento cheese, wrapped in bacon, and fried to crispy perfection in the air fryer. Serve with tangy homemade remoulade sauce for dipping.

Provided by Aleya Zenieris

Categories     Snacks

Time 3h

Yield 3 servings

Number Of Ingredients 24

½ lb fresh okra
2 cups buttermilk
½ teaspoon Louisiana-style hot sauce
8 oz cheddar cheese, freshly grated
4 oz cream cheese, cubed, room temperature
¼ cup mayonnaise
4 oz pimiento peppers, drained and chopped
1 jalapeño, seeded and diced
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon cayenne
½ cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon creole mustard
2 teaspoons lemon juice
½ tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
½ tablespoon green onion, green parts only
¼ teaspoon paprika
¼ teaspoon cayenne
2 teaspoons Louisiana-style hot sauce
¼ teaspoon worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon whole grain mustard
1 tablespoon garlic, minced
½ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 lb bacon strips, halved crosswise

Steps:

  • Cut each okra pod in half lengthwise. Use a small spoon to scoop out the seeds and discard.
  • Arrange the okra, cut-side up, in a shallow glass dish. Pour the buttermilk and hot sauce over the okra. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2-4 hours.
  • While the okra marinates, make the pimento cheese filling: In a medium bowl, combine the cheddar cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, pimiento peppers, jalapeño, salt, and cayenne. Mix with an electric hand mixer on low-medium speed until well combined, 2-3 minutes. Transfer the filling to a piping bag and refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Make the remoulade sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Creole mustard, lemon juice, parsley, green onions, paprika, cayenne, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, whole grain mustard, garlic, salt, and pepper until combined. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Assemble the poppers: After the okra has marinated, drain and rinse under cold water. Place on a paper towel-lined baking sheet and pat the insides dry.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes.
  • Cut the tip off of the piping bag with the pimiento cheese filling and pipe the filling into each okra half. Wrap a half-slice of bacon around each okra half, using toothpicks to secure if needed.
  • Working in batches of 5-6 at a time, air fry the okra poppers for 10 minutes, or until the bacon is cooked and crispy.
  • Arrange the okra on a platter and serve with the remoulade sauce alongside.
  • Enjoy!

Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers Recipe by Tasty Recipes

One of the most popular appetizers for any party or get-together is the jalapeño popper. These little bites are packed with flavor, spicy heat, and cheese. The only downside to jalapeño poppers is that they can be a bit messy to make and difficult to get just right.

Thankfully, with the invention of the air fryer, making bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers has become a breeze. Air fryers use hot air to cook food quickly and evenly, resulting in crispy bacon and perfectly cooked jalapeño peppers stuffed with creamy cheese.

The Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you will need to make air fryer bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers:

  • 6 large jalapeño peppers
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
The Process

Before you begin, be sure to preheat your air fryer to 375°F.

  1. Cut off the tops of the jalapeño peppers and remove the seeds and membranes using a small spoon or knife. Be sure to wear gloves or wash your hands thoroughly afterwards to avoid getting the spicy oils on your skin.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Spoon the mixture into the hollowed out jalapeño peppers.
  3. Cut the bacon slices in half lengthwise. Wrap each jalapeño pepper with a piece of bacon, securing it with a toothpick.
  4. Place the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers in the preheated air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching each other. Cook for 10-12 minutes or until the bacon is crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Remove the jalapeño poppers from the air fryer basket using tongs or a spatula. Allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Variations

If you want to mix things up a bit, here are some variations of the air fryer bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers recipe:

  • Swap out the cheddar cheese for pepper jack cheese for an extra kick of heat.
  • Add some chopped cooked shrimp to the cream cheese mixture for a seafood twist.
  • Sprinkle some crumbled blue cheese on top of the cream cheese mixture before wrapping with bacon.
  • Use turkey bacon or prosciutto instead of regular pork bacon for a healthier option.

H5: Ingredients Making air fryer bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers requires specific ingredients to make it more delicious and attractive. Here are the most essential ingredients that you will need to make this tasty snack. 1. Jalapeños peppers: You will need 12-15 fresh jalapeños peppers that are neither overripe nor soft. Look for the ones that have a firm texture and are not too spicy. 2. Cream cheese: Cream cheese is the essential ingredient that you will need to make this recipe. It provides a creamy texture and balances the spiciness of the jalapeños. 3. Cheddar cheese: Cheddar cheese gives a tangy and cheesy flavor to the poppers. You can either use shredded cheddar cheese or blocks of cheese cut into small cubes. 4. Bacon: Bacon is the main ingredient that wraps the jalapeños and gives an extra layer of flavor. 5. Garlic Powder: Garlic powder adds to the flavor of the jalapeño poppers and helps to give a unique taste. 6. Toothpicks: Toothpicks are necessary to hold the bacon wraps around the jalapeños before cooking. H5: Prep Work 1. Preheat air fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 375°F. Preheating makes the air fryer hot and makes the poppers cook faster with a crispy texture. 2. Preparing jalapeños: Wear gloves to protect your hands from the spiciness of the jalapeños. Cut each jalapeño in half vertically, removing the stem and seeds. Rinse and pat them dry with a paper towel. 3. Filling the jalapeños: Mix the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, and garlic powder in a bowl. Fill each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture. 4. Wrapping with bacon: Cut the bacon slices in half horizontally to equal the number of jalapeño halves you have. Wrap each jalapeño half with a piece of bacon and hold it in place using a toothpick. H5: Cooking Process 1. Place the jalapeño poppers in the air fryer basket. 2. Cook for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking time. 3. Increase the temperature to 400°F and continue cooking for an additional 5-7 minutes for crispier bacon. 4. Remove from the air fryer basket and allow to cool before serving. H5: Essential Tips There are several tips that you should consider to make perfect air fryer bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers: 1. Use fresh jalapeños: Always use fresh jalapeños. They should be firm and brightly colored. Old, soft, or wrinkled jalapeños may not cook correctly and may taste a little bitter. 2. Adjust bacon size: Bacon is an essential ingredient, but you don't want it to overwhelm the jalapeño poppers. Make sure the bacon slices aren't too thick, and the half jalapeños wrapped with bacon should have equal size. 3. Use toothpicks: Use toothpicks to hold the bacon in place while cooking. Ensure the toothpicks are placed on the outermost side of the bacon, moreso around that part where the toothpick would hold the bacon together. 4. Use oil spray: Using oil spray on the air fryer basket, lowers the risk of sticking the jalapeño poppers on the basket. 5. Don't Overstuff: Make sure you don't overstuff the jalapeño poppers with the cheese mixture, or it will be challenging to wrap it with bacon and cook them evenly. 6. Cook evenly: Ensure that the jalapeño poppers get cooked evenly on all sides. Flip halfway through cooking for an even cooking process. 7. Cooling before Serving: Lastly, let the jalapeño poppers cool down for 2-3 minutes before serving to avoid burns on your mouth. H4: Conclusion In conclusion, making air fryer bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers is an exciting and tasty snack that you should try at home. By following the right ingredients, prep work, cooking process, and essential tips, you can make perfect air fryer bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers that everyone will love.
