HOT ARTICHOKE AND SPINACH DIP II

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II image

This dip is amazing -- so cheesy and fragrant. If you don't like artichokes, don't worry -- you'll never know they're in there! My only question is: Is it okay to just eat it with a spoon right out of the dish?

HOT SPINACH AND ARTICHOKE DIP

Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip image

As much as we Americans love to dip things, it's sheer madness not to make our own. This easy, cheesy, and warm spinach and artichoke variety is probably my favorite dip of all time. And I hate to admit that when it's cold and stiff, I sometimes make sandwiches out of it. Don't judge me! You can also use jarred or canned artichokes for this, but if you do, you'll want to cut the water by half. This recipe first appeared in Season 6 of Good Eats.

THE BEST SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP

The Best Spinach Artichoke Dip image

This is our best version of the classic party dip. It's savory and creamy with a slight tang from sour cream and Parmesan -- so hard to resist. We like to use frozen whole leaf spinach and chop it ourselves for more control over the finished texture of the dish.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     appetizer

Time 40m

Yield 6 to 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 11

Nonstick cooking spray
8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 clove garlic, grated
One 10-ounce box frozen leaf spinach, thawed, drained, squeezed dry and coarsely chopped (see Cook's Note)
One 14-ounce can artichoke hearts, drained well and coarsely chopped
1/2 cup shredded whole-milk mozzarella
3/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Crackers, chips or toasted bread, for serving

Steps:

  • Position a rack in the upper third of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. Spray a 1-quart baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Put the cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise and garlic in a large bowl. Mix vigorously until combined and smooth. (If you prefer, you can use a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.) Add the spinach to the cream cheese mixture, breaking it up as you add it. Add the artichokes, mozzarella and 1/2 cup of the Parmesan, mixing to combine. Season with salt and pepper. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and top with the remaining 1/4 cup Parmesan.
  • Bake until the dip begins to bubble, 20 to 25 minutes. Turn the oven to broil and continue to cook, keeping an eye on it so it doesn't burn, until the top is golden brown, about 5 minutes. Serve warm with crackers, chips or toasted bread.

Tips for Making Adrienne's Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip

If you're looking for a crowd-pleasing appetizer recipe, look no further than Adrienne's Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip. With its creamy, cheesy goodness and bold flavors, this dish is sure to be a hit at any party or gathering. Here are some valuable tips to help you nail the recipe and impress your guests.
1. Use high-quality ingredients
The success of this recipe hinges on the quality of the ingredients you use. Be sure to select fresh, high-quality spinach, artichokes, and cheeses. If possible, opt for organic ingredients and avoid using canned artichokes or frozen spinach.
2. Properly drain and chop the spinach and artichokes
One of the keys to success with this recipe is ensuring that you properly drain and chop the spinach and artichokes. After cooking and draining the spinach, be sure to squeeze out any excess water using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Similarly, drain the marinated artichoke hearts and chop them finely before adding to the recipe.
3. Make your own mayonnaise
While you can certainly use store-bought mayonnaise in this recipe, making your own will take the dip to the next level. Homemade mayo is richer and creamier than store-bought, and it allows you to control the ingredients and flavor to your liking.
4. Experiment with different cheeses
While Adrienne's recipe calls for a blend of cream cheese, Parmesan, and mozzarella cheeses, you can certainly experiment with different cheeses to customize the flavor of the dip. For example, you could try adding some sharp cheddar or Gouda for a slightly different flavor profile.
5. Don't be afraid to adjust the seasoning
While the recipe calls for garlic powder, salt, and pepper to season the dip, feel free to adjust the seasoning to your taste. You might find that you prefer a little more garlic or a touch of cayenne pepper for some added heat.
6. Serve the dip hot and bubbly
To really impress your guests, be sure to serve the dip hot and bubbling straight from the oven. You can keep the dip warm by transferring it to a small crockpot or chafing dish, or by simply placing the baking dish on a hotplate.
7. Serve with the right accompaniments
While this dip is delicious on its own, it's even better when paired with the right accompaniments. Consider serving it with crispy tortilla chips, sliced baguette, or toasted pita wedges. You could also try serving it with raw vegetables like carrots, celery, and bell pepper for a healthier option.
8. Customize the dip to your liking
Finally, don't be afraid to customize the dip to your liking. For example, you could add some cooked bacon or crumbled sausage for added flavor and texture. Or you could mix in some diced tomatoes or roasted red peppers for a pop of color and flavor. By following these tips, you're sure to create a delicious, crowd-pleasing batch of Adrienne's Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip that will impress your guests and have them coming back for more. Happy cooking!
