I love BBQ, but don't have a grill, so I improvise with the crock pot. These are no fuss, and turn out absolutely scrumptious !

3 -4 lbs boneless country-style ribs
8 ounces favorite barbecue sauce
1 onion, cut in wedges for bottom of crock
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
garlic powder
cajun spices
chili powder
onion flakes
black pepper

Steps:

  • Place onion wedges on crock bottom with a little water (approx. 1/3 cup).
  • In glass dish, coat rib pieces with Worcestershire, then dredge in spices on all sides.
  • Criss cross ribs in layers over onion (largest on bottom), slightly coating with BBQ sauce.
  • Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.

Slow-cooked country-style pork ribs are fall off the bone tender and juicy! These meaty ribs are coated in a thick rich sauce flavored with garlic, honey, soy sauce, and chili powder and are perfect for weeknight meals or weekend gatherings. So, forget heading to the local BBQ joint. You can make delicious ribs at home!

3-4 pounds bone-in country style pork ribs
1 tablespoon olive oil
salt and pepper
3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup red wine or apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/4 teaspoon dried mustard
chopped fresh parsley - optional

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in a cast-iron skillet or heavy bottom pan. Sprinkle ribs with salt and pepper and sear, on all sides, until golden. Remove the ribs from the pan and place them in the Crock Pot.
  • To a medium-size bowl, add ketchup, soy sauce, honey, vinegar, garlic, chili powder, onion powder dried thyme, dried parsley, and dried mustard. Whisk together and pour over the ribs. Place the lid on the Crock Pot and cook on HIGH for 6-7 hours or LOW for 8 hours until the ribs are done.
  • Remove the ribs to a serving platter, and spoon over the sauce from the bottom of the Crock Pot. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve.

1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon prepared mustard (yellow)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons vinegar
1/2 cup bottled chili sauce (Heinz)
1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 cup water

Steps:

  • Brown Country Style Pork Ribs in Margarine or Butter. Mix everything and cook in a Crock Pot on High for 3-4 hours. Reduce heat to low for the last hour.
  • Chicken can be used in lieu of Pork.
  • Use the sauce as gravy on mashed potatoes.
