WON TON WRAPPER APPETIZERS



Won Ton Wrapper Appetizers image

Cheesy sausage-based filling in little cups made from baked won ton wrappers. The baked cups and filling may be prepared a day or two in advance (store covered in the refrigerator) and assembled shortly before serving.

1 (16 ounce) package wonton wrappers
1 pound sausage
1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
½ cup chopped black olives, drained
1 cup Ranch-style salad dressing

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a miniature muffin pan with cooking spray.
  • Insert wonton wrappers into the muffin pan so as to form small cups. Bake 5 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow the baked wrappers to cool. Remove from the pan.
  • In a medium bowl, mix the sausage, Monterey Jack, Cheddar, black olives and Ranch-style dressing. Fill the baked wonton wrapper cups with the mixture.
  • Bake the filled wonton wrappers 10 to 15 minutes, until the sausage mixture is bubbly and slightly brown. Watch closely so the wonton wrappers do not burn.

WONTON DESSERTS:
12 Tbsp leftover dessert ,more or less
12 wonton wrappers, more or less
oil for frying, enough to cover wonton to fry
COCONUT CARAMEL DIPPING SAUCE:
1 c granulated sugar
6 Tbsp butter
1/2 c coconut cream or other flavored cream
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c sweetened condensed milk
1/2 c chocolate chips to compliment the dessert( butterscotch. milk or dark chocolate or peanut butter chips or white)

Steps:

  • 1. Wonton Desserts: In each wonton wrapper place 1 Tablespoon of leftover dessert of choice, wet the edges with water and fold into desired wonton shape. Heat oil to 350^ and carefully place filled wontons into oil and fry until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towels. Set aside.
  • 2. Coconut Caramel Sauce: Heat sugar over medium heat in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. As soon as the sugar begins to melt, stir quickly with a wooden spoon. When it comes to a boil, stop stirring and add sweetened condensed milk and chocolate of choice.
  • 3. When the sugar and chocolate have melted and is amber in color, add the butter , stir until melted and then remove from heat. Slowly add the coconut cream milk and salt and continue to whisk to blend. Whisk until the caramel is smooth. Let cool in pan for a couple of minutes before pouring it into serving dish. Serve with wonton desserts.

BAKED CREAM CHEESE WONTONS

A Midwestern favorite: cream cheese in wonton wrappers. The recipe dimensions are simple (1 wonton wrapper plus 1 teaspoon cream cheese) and can be easily altered. You can add chives, crab, and other kinds of cheese, just decrease the amount of cream cheese accordingly.

12 wonton wrappers
¼ cup cream cheese
1 teaspoon water, or as needed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Lay wonton wrappers on prepared baking sheet. Place 1 teaspoon cream cheese in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  • Lightly brush edges of wonton wrappers with water and fold each wrapper in half to form a triangle. Press edges to seal. Fold the tips of each triangle up together so that they meet in above the center of the wonton and press tips together to seal. Spray assembled wontons with cooking spray.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until wontons are crispy and golden and the cream cheese is melted, 5 to 7 minutes.

24 wonton wrappers
Refrigerated butter-flavored spray
1 tablespoon plus 1/4 cup sugar, divided
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 package (8 ounces) reduced-fat cream cheese
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup chopped pecans
24 maraschino cherries with stems

Steps:

  • Place wonton wrappers on a work surface; spritz with butter-flavored spray. Combine 1 tablespoon sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over wrappers. Press into miniature muffin cups coated with cooking spray. , Bake at 350° for 4-5 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately remove wonton cups to an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 2-3 minutes longer or until bottoms of cups are lightly browned. Remove to a wire rack to cool completely., In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, vanilla and remaining sugar until smooth. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans. Spoon into wonton cups. Top each with a cherry.
