Categories     Beverage

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 medium lime ((thinly sliced into rounds))
1 medium lemon ((thinly sliced into rounds))
1/4 cup organic cane sugar ((or sub agave, powdered coconut sugar, maple syrup, or stevia to taste // for drier sangria, omit))
1/4 cup apple brandy
1/2 medium organic green apple ((cored, skin on, chopped into small pieces))
1 medium ripe peach or nectarine ((thinly sliced))
1 cup sliced strawberries
1 750-ml bottle dry, crisp white wine
Ice or frozen berries for serving
Sparkling water ((optional))
Fresh mint ((optional))

Steps:

  • Add lime, lemon, and sugar (or other sweeteners) to a large pitcher (or use multiple pitchers if making a larger batch) and muddle with a muddler or gently crush with a wooden spoon for 45 seconds.
  • Add apple brandy and muddle again to combine for 30 seconds. Add apple, nectarine, and strawberries and stir to incorporate. Then add wine and stir once more.
  • Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding more sweetener of choice for sweetness, lemon or lime juice for acidity, or fruit. Stir to combine.
  • Add ice or frozen berries and stir once more to chill. Serve as is or with a bit more ice and mint (optional). To dilute the mixture, top off glasses with a bit of sparkling water (optional).
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours, though best when enjoyed within the first 1-2 days.

SPARKLING WHITE SANGRIA

Sparkling White Sangria image

With sparkling wine and fresh fruit, this white sangria is pretty and festive -- perfect for a party!

Provided by Jennifer Segal

Categories     Drinks

Time 15m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 ounce (2 tablespoons) brandy or cognac
1 ounce (2 tablespoons) orange liqueur, such as Grand Marnier
⅓ cup superfine sugar (see note)
1 orange, halved
2 limes
1 small apple, such as Fuji or Honeycrisp, peeled and chopped
1 nectarine, chopped
1 bottle chilled sparkling wine, such as Cava, Prosecco or Champagne
1 cup lemon-lime soda, such as Sprite
A few bunches frozen grapes

Steps:

  • In a large pitcher, combine the brandy, orange liqueur and sugar. Squeeze juice from one lime and one orange half into the pitcher. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Slice the remaining orange half into thin slices and add to pitcher, then add chopped apples and nectarines. Add the sparkling wine, lemon-lime soda and a large bunch of frozen grapes. Place ice cubes in glasses (do not put them in the pitcher or they'll water the drink down) along with small bunches of frozen grapes and pour sangria over top. Spoon chopped fruit into glasses, garnish with lime slices if desired and serve.
  • Note: Superfine sugar dissolves much faster than regular sugar. It is available at most supermarkets. This recipe makes a fairly sweet sangria; if you prefer it dry, use less sugar.

WHITE SANGRIA

White Sangria image

This sangria takes five to 10 minutes to assemble in a large pitcher. Take the time to prepare it in the morning so the sangria has several hours to develop its fruity flavor. Pull it out when dinner is ready to serve that evening.

WHITE SANGRIA

White Sangria image

As festive a drink as they come. You can use either red or white wine as the base for Sangria but to my taste, white Sangria is the way to go. It's smoother than the red kind and it looks more elegant. It goes easy but packs a real punch (no pun intended). You want your sangria to be well chilled when it's served but instead of diluting all the amazing flavors in the punch bowl with a bunch of melting ice, just put out a bucket of ice so people can fill their glasses with ice before serving themselves. You only need a small bottle of brandy, which should only cost you about seven bucks, but you can make this recipe without it.

Time 5m

Yield 12 to 15 servings

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 (750-ml) bottles white wine, chilled
1 cup brandy
2 navel oranges, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
1 lime, sliced
1/4 cup superfine sugar

Steps:

  • Pour the wine and brandy over the fruit and sugar in a large serving bowl. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Stick a ladle in the sangria so people can serve themselves and have a full bucket of ice by the side of the bowl. (Don't let the ice run out.)

QUICK WHITE SANGRIA

Quick White Sangria image

Using white wine makes my version of sangria a little lighter, yet it still has the same wonderful sweetness. Frozen fruit allows me to serve this any time of year. Nothing beats this summer sangria recipe-white wine over red, of course. -Sharon Tipton, Orlando, Florida
