1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup sweet ground chocolate and cocoa
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, melted
2/3 cup unsifted flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
1/3 cup light corn syrup
3 tablespoons water
1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped

Steps:

  • Brownies: Preheat oven to 350ºF. Using a spoon, stir eggs with 3/4-cup sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla; add butter. Sift ground chocolate with flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir into egg mixture; add nuts. Stir in chips. Spread into greased 8" or 9" square pan. Bake 20 to 30 minutes. For extra chewy brownies, use 8" pan and less baking time. For cake-like brownies, use 9" pan and longer baking time. Cut into squares.
  • Caramel Pecan Topping: Once brownie is baked and cooled, in a 3-quart saucepan, bring 3/4-cup sugar, corn syrup, water, and a pinch of salt to a boil until it turns a golden caramel. Remove pan from heat, and slowly add cream and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Quickly stir in pecans, and pour over brownie layer. Cool on rack. Chill brownies, covered, until caramel is firm (2 hours).

4 tablespoons butter, softened
1 egg
18 pecan halves

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, place Ghirardelli Caramel Turtle Brownie Mix, butter and egg. Using an electric mixer, mix on low speed 1 minute or until dough is formed. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls, 1-inch apart, onto an ungreased baking sheet. With thumb or handle of wooden spoon, press indentation into center of cookie dough and fill with caramel. Place 1 pecan half on top of caramel.

1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 eggs
1 1/4 cups flour
3/4 cup dark cocoa
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 (11 1/2 ounce) bag dark chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped
1 teaspoon oil
14 ounces caramels, unrapped
1/2 cup evaporated milk

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Grease 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • Melt butter.
  • Stir in sugar, vanilla and eggs.
  • Stir in flour, cocoa and salt.
  • Stir in 1 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1 cup pecans.
  • Spread in prepared pan.
  • Bake 35-40 minutes or until done.
  • Heat milk and caramels in small saucepan over medium heat until caramels are melted and smooth.
  • Melt remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips and oil in small saucepan over medium heat until chips are melted and smooth.
  • Drizzle caramel in a diagonal pattern across warm brownies.
  • Drizzle chocolate in the opposite direction over brownies.
