V'S TRI-TIP MARINADE

V's Tri-Tip Marinade image

This is IT! Family favorite... :) In my family we eat this at least once a week. Makes a nice Sunday dinner. I prepare the marinade on Saturday and let it sit until we're ready to BBQ on Sunday. I was absolutely honored when Bobby Flay did a show with this recipe slightly modified of course! Easy....Delicious and the most tender flavor you'll never expect Prep time does not include time to marinade. The longer .... the better If you like a melt in your mouth Tri-tip this is how I make it.

BBQ TRI-TIP ROAST WITH BLACKBERRY WINE MARINADE AND VEGGIES

BBQ Tri-Tip Roast With Blackberry Wine Marinade and Veggies image

Great for a summer BBQ with the sweet warm hints of summer blackberries this is one of my family's favorites.

Provided by Leahferne

Categories     One Dish Meal

Time 6h

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 lbs tri-tip roast
2 cups beef broth
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup blackberry wine
3 tablespoons garlic salt
3 tablespoons pepper
3 tablespoons beef roast seasoning
1 tablespoon rosemary
1 onion, wedges
7 carrots, whole
3 potatoes, large and sliced
1 red bell pepper
6 mushrooms, quartered
5 garlic cloves, crushed

Steps:

  • With a fork scrape the surface of the meat on all sides.
  • Work 1 tbsp of olive oil into the meat on each side then sprinkle generously the garlic salt, pepper and roast seasoning over the roast. Set a side.
  • In a large casserole dish or oven/marinating bad combine the beef broth, blackberry wine, rosemary and all the veggies.
  • Place the roast into the marinade and veggies and allow to sit at least 4 hours. You can prepare this a day before and allow the roast to marinate in the fridge over night.
  • Get your coals ready and I like them to be gray before I put the meat on.
  • On a large sheet of aluminum place all the veggies in the center. Fold up the edges of the aluminum to create a pocket. Make sure your creases are folded tightly so none of the juices can leek out.
  • Put the veggies on the grill and flip every 15 minutes.
  • After you have flipped the veggies twice it is time to put the meat on. Grill the meat till the all the sides are dappled with charring.
  • Continue to cook the veggies for another 15-30 minutes while the roast is cooking. All should be done around the same time.
  • Once removed allow the roast to sit for 10 minutes. Carve and serve hot with the unwrapped veggies. Enjoy!

GRILLED TRI-TIP STEAK MARINADE

Grilled Tri-Tip Steak Marinade image

Categories     Beef     Grill/Barbecue

Number Of Ingredients 10

2.5 pounds Tri-Tip Steak
1/4 - 1/3 cup Oil
1/4 cup Lemon Juice, fresh
2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
3/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1 teaspoon Pepper
1/4-1/2 teaspoon Salt
2 pinches Garnish: Butter, Garlic, Parsley

Steps:

  • In a medium sized bowl, combine hisk tooil, lemon juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and pepper. Whisk together
  • Place steak in a ziploc bag and pour marinade over steak. Let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. 2-4 hours is more ideal
  • Heat outdoor grill to high
  • Once the grill is heated, place tri-tip steak on the grill. Generously salt each side of steak. Sear each side for 5-8 minutes per side
  • Lower to medium to medium-low heat and continue to grill for 6-10 minutes or until thermometer reaches 130 degrees in the center of the steak. Tri-tip steaks can range in thickness. It is suggested to use a meat thermometer to check the temperatureto ensure the meat isn't overcooked. The total cooking time will be 20-25 minutes at the least. An average 2 lb tri-tip will neet about 25 minutes total cooking time
  • Since Tri-tip steaks vary in thickness, your best bet is to use a thermometer to check for temperature. The instant-read thermometer reads 120 degrees for rare, 130 degrees for medium=rare, and 140 degrees for medium
  • Remove steak from grill and let rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Slice across the grain for the most tender meat

A REALLY GOOD TRI-TIP MARINADE

A REALLY GOOD TRI-TIP MARINADE image

Categories     Marinade     Beef     Roast

Number Of Ingredients 11

1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon onion salt or garlic salt
2 tablespoons parsley flakes
1/4 cup malt vinegar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon fish sauce
2 tablespoons finely minced garlic
A nice piece of trip-tip, anywhere from 1.5 to 4 lbs.

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, mix together 1/4 cup of the sugar and 1/4 cup of the water and bring to a boil, stirring all the while. When the sugar gets a dark color, add the spices and stir. Bring back to a boil for a minute, and then add the vinegar, the other 1/4 cup of water, the soy sauce, and the fish sauce. Mix well and taste. If you feel like it needs more "balance," add a little more salt. Add the garlic and the 2 tablespoons of sugar. Bring back to a boil, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. Let cool. Place the tri-tip roast in a shallow baking dish or a Ziploc bag and pour the cooled marinade over. Place in fridge and let marinade for a hour or overnight. (I did this overnight.) Cooking Method: This can be cooked on the grill or roasted in the oven. If roasting in the oven, do it at 425 degrees F and stick a meat thermometer in. When it reaches an internal temperature of 128 degrees, remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
