TRI-LEVEL BROWNIES
A delightfully rich chocolate brownie with a tasty cookie crust. A great dessert with coffee.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F(175 degrees C). Lightly grease an 11 x 7 1/2 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, stir together quick cooking oats, 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar, and baking soda. Stir melted butter into dry ingredients.
- Pat evenly into the bottom of baking pan and bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes.
- For the middle layer, cream together white sugar, butter, and 1 ounce of melted unsweetened chocolate. Add the egg to this mixture and cream well.
- In a medium bowl, stir together 2/3 cup of flour, baking powder, and salt. Add dry ingredients to chocolate mixture alternately with a mixture of the milk and vanilla. Mix after each addition. Fold in the walnuts and spread evenly over baked layer.
- Bake for 25 minutes more at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C ) then cool.
- For frosting, melt together 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 ounce of unsweetened chocolate over medium heat. Remove from heat, and stir in 1 1/2 cups of confectioners sugar. Add vanilla last. Stir until frosting is smooth and pourable. Drizzle over the tops of the brownies for an elegant finish.

A friend gave me this brownie recipe many years ago. they are delicious. now i make them for my son who loves them.

Steps:
- BASE: Stir together oats, flour, brown sugar, soda, salt, and melted butter.
- Pat into a 11x7x1 1/2 baking dish.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
- Cool.
- SECOND LAYER: Mix sugar, butter and melted chocolate.
- Add egg: beat well.
- Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add to chocolate mixture alternately with milk and vanilla.
- Stir in chopped nuts if using.
- Spread over baked cooled base layer.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
- Cool.
- FROSTING: Melt chocolate with butter over low heat, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Blend in hot water to make an almost pourable consistency.
- Frost brownies.
- Cut into 16 bars.

- For bottom layer, stir together first 4 ingredients. Pat in 11x7" baking pan. Bake at 350 for 10 min. For middle layer , combine sugar, 1/4 c butter and chocolate. Add egg., beat well. Stir 2/3 c flour, baking powder and 1/4 t salt, add to chocolate mixture alternately with milk and vanilla, mixing after each addition. Fold in nuts. Spread batter over baked layer., continue baking at 350 for 25 min. Cool. Frost with fudge frosting
