HONEY-GLAZED CRISPY SNACK MIX



Honey-Glazed Crispy Snack Mix image

Serve up a big bowl of this sweet and crispy snack and watch it disappear. If you like, substitute peanuts, cashews or even mixed nuts for the pecans.

Number Of Ingredients 5

8 cups Crispix
3 cups miniature pretzels
2 cups pecan halves
2/3 cup butter, cubed
1/2 cup honey

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the cereal, pretzels and pecans; set aside. In a small saucepan, melt butter; stir in honey until well blended. Pour over cereal mixture and stir to coat. Spread into two greased 15x10x1-in. baking pans. Bake at 350° for 12-15 minutes or until mixture is lightly glazed, stirring occasionally. Cool in pan for 3 minutes; remove from pan and spread on waxed paper to cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

1 cup margarine
2 teaspoons seasoning salt
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons celery salt
2 teaspoons garlic salt
2 cups crispy rice cereal squares
2 cups crispy corn cereal squares
2 cups crispy wheat cereal squares
2 cups toasted oat cereal
1 cup mini pretzel sticks
1 cup mixed nuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C).
  • In a large roasting pan, melt margarine. Mix in seasoning salt, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt, and garlic salt.
  • Stir crispy rice, corn, wheat and oat cereals, pretzels and nuts into the butter mixture and coat well.
  • Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

4 cups crispy corn and rice cereal (such as Crispix®)
2 ½ cups small pretzels
2 ½ cups cheese-flavored crackers
2 cups oyster crackers
½ cup peanuts
⅔ cup vegetable oil
1 (1 ounce) package ranch dressing mix
¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C).
  • Combine cereal, pretzels, cheese-flavored crackers, oyster crackers, and peanuts in a large bowl.
  • Whisk vegetable oil, ranch dressing mix, and garlic powder together in a small bowl. Pour over cereal mixture and stir until coated. Arrange on a large baking sheet.

2 packages ramen, broken into small pieces (seasoning packet discarded)
1 cup raw cashews
1 cup raw peanuts
1 cup cornflakes
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 teaspoons curry powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon fine salt
1/2 cup fried or freeze-dried peas

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. On a rimmed baking sheet, toss ramen, cashews, peanuts, and cornflakes with oil until coated. Spread mixture in an even layer. Combine curry powder, cayenne, and salt; sprinkle over ramen mixture. Bake until golden brown, about 10 minutes, stirring halfway through. Stir in peas and let cool completely before serving.

6 ounces Rice Chex
6 1/2 ounces Kix cereal
6 ounces Cheerios toasted oat cereal
2 cups pecan pieces
1 lb unsalted dry roasted peanuts
1 (8 ounce) box Cheez-It crackers
2 teaspoons celery seeds
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
3/4 cup melted margarine
2 teaspoons seasoning salt
1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl, stir together the cereals, Cheezits and nuts.
  • In another bowl, mix the seasonings with the melted margarine.
  • Pour over the cereal mixture and stir to coat the cereal evenly.
  • Spread out mixture on a cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 325° for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Store in an airtight jar or plastic container.
  • This mix tastes best if you make it 3 or 4 days ahead.

4 cups small cheese crackers (about 8 ounces)
4 cups oyster crackers (about 8 ounces)
4 cups thin pretzel sticks (about 8 ounces)
1 pound mixed nuts (about 4 cups)
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
2 garlic cloves, lightly crushed
1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt, such as Lawry's
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon hot-pepper sauce, such as Tabasco

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 275 degrees. In a shallow bowl, combine crackers, pretzels, and nuts. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, cook butter and garlic until butter starts to bubble, about 4 minutes.
  • Add remaining ingredients to pan; stir to combine. Bring to a simmer; cook about 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Remove garlic, and discard. Drizzle butter over cracker mixture, tossing to coat.
  • Spread mixture evenly in two rimmed baking sheets. Bake until toasted and fragrant, about 30 minutes, stirring once or twice to cook evenly. Remove from oven. Serve warm or at room temperature.
