NACHO TATOR TOT CASSEROLE

My kids loved this and it was so quick and easy that it became a once a week meal. I still cook this for my grandkids and they love it. It is quick and easy and a great ground beef meal.

2 lb bags of tater tots
1 lb ground beef
1 pkg taco seasoning
2 c grated cheese
1 jar(s) salsa
1 jar(s) green chiles
1 tsp garlic
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 c chopped onion
1/2 c chopped green pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place the tator tots in a 9x13 light greased pan and place in the oven.
  • 2. In a large skillet mix together the ground beef spices, taco seasoning, salsa, green pepper and onion. Cook until the beef is throughly browned.
  • 3. After beef is browned pull tater tots from oven and spread ground beef over the tater tots and cut the chilles up to cover the ground beef. Cover with the 2 cups of cheese and bake in a 400 degree oven for 25-30 minutes.

This is a hit no matter what occasion. I have found that it is a wonderful dish to take to someone's house that has just had a baby, just moved in, or sadly a death in the family.

1 lb hamburger - lean
1 pkg dry onion soup mix
1 pkg 10 oz frozen mixed vegetables
1 can(s) cream of mushroom soup
1/2 can(s) water
1 pkg tator tots

Steps:

  • 1. Brown hamburger and drain grease. Add soup mix, frozen vegetables, soup & water.
  • 2. Mix all together and let simmer while you prepare the 9x12 baking dish.
  • 3. Spray dish with Pam; pour hamburger mixture into baking dish; bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees; then add tator tots on top and bake an add'l 15 to 20 minutes until nicely brown.

This is a very tasty, easy casserole and a favorite at our house! My daughters always ask me to makke this for their "birthday dinner"

1 1/2 lb lean ground beef
1 can(s) cheddar cheese soup
1 can(s) cream of chicken or mushroom soup
1 c sour cream
8 oz shredded cheese(any kind youd like)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 pkg frozen tator tots or potato crowns

Steps:

  • 1. Cook ground beef until no longer pink, drain. Add soups, sour cream, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, and 4 oz of the cheese. Mix well until all is combined. Pour meat mixture nto a greased 9x13 casserole dish. Top with remainder of shredded cheese, then layer tots until all of the casserole is covered. Sprinkle tots with 1/2 tsp of salt if desired. bake in a 375 degree oven until tots are golden brown and crispy. I love serving this alongside green beans and dinner rolls

When I married my husband this is the one thing he could cook, said it was his mom's go-to recipe. I added here & there and it's now my go to recipe on a busy night. It also freezes wonderfully, so once a month I make 2 or 3 to put in the freezer. Easy to double for an 9x13 pan.

1 lb ground beef, (i've also used turkey & pork)
2 can(s) cut green beans
1 can(s) cream of mushroom soup (i have also used cheddar cheese soup, it's good too)
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste
1 small bag tator tots (won't use all for 1 recipe)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat Oven to 375. Brown the beef in skillet.
  • 2. In 8x8 pan mix all ingredients except tator tots. Add tator tots in rows until top is covered completly with tator tots.
  • 3. Bake 35-45 minutes, or until the tator tots are browned and casserole is bubbly.
  • 4. I serve with Green Tobasco sauce for the adults & ketchup for my daughter. Add a green salad & dinner is served!!

2 cans Manwich Sloppy Joe Sauce
2 cups Kraft Shredded Cheddar Cheese, divided
1 pound Ore-Ida Tater Tots

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Brown & drain the hamburger. Mix the hamburger with the sloppy joe sauce and then add one cup of Kraft shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Place this mixture into a 9x13 baking dish. Place the tater tots on top of the meat mixture.
  • Bake for 40 minutes. Take and place the additional one cup of Kraft Shredded Cheddar Cheese over the tater tots and bake until cheese is melted.

1 large can of cream of mushroom soup *or* cream of chicken soup
season all and garlic salt

  • 1. Fry your hamburger meat
  • 2. Drain the grease off of your hamber meat
  • 3. Add your large can of Cream of Mushroom or Chicken soup (your choice both are great with this)

1 lb chicken breasts, whole cut into chunks
1/2 lb bacon,cooked and crumbled
1 pkg frozen tator tots
2 c broccoli,cooked
2 c colby jack cheese,shredded
1 can(s) cream of chicken soup
1 c sour cream
1/2 c milk
1/2 tsp seasoning salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. Combine the soup, sour cream, seasoning salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and cayenne pepper. Mix,add 1 1/2 cup of the shredded cheese and the milk. Mix well. Set aside Spray a 9 x 13 glass baking dish with non-stick spray. Put the cooked chicken in the bottom of the baking dish. Add the cooked broccoli or other vegetables.Pour the sauce mixture on top of the chicken and broccoli. Layer the frozen tater tots on top.Sprinkle with the cooked bacon. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheese. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 45 minutes.

I LOVE this recipe, I have another recipe on here that uses hamburger, but since meeting my now husband, I don't really care for hamburger, we use vegetarian meat. You should really try this, it comes together so well, and the kids would never know that there's veggies in it. PLUS it's better for you than hamburger.

1 lb hamburger
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed cream of celery soup
2 cups shredded cheese (I like Mozzarella best)
1 (32 ounce) package frozen tater tots (you won't need the whole bag, but a small bag won't be enough)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 deg.
  • In small bowl mix cream of mushroom and cream of celery. mix until well blended.
  • In large casserole dish, combine MS Crumbles and cream mix. spread so it covers the bottom. ( no need to fry the crumbles first because they are not real hamburger, they will thaw in the oven).
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese over top. ( use the whole bag for cheese lovers like me :D).
  • Place Tater tots on top. ( make sure the casserole is covered with tater tots).
  • Place in oven until tater tots are golden brown.
  • Cool for about 20 minutes.
  • Serve.

This is my version of tater tot casserole. When I first moved out of my parent's house when I was in college, I didn't have a recipe. This is what I came up with. Now my husband and kids request it. (the black bits on top are the mushrooms from the cream of mushroom soup) :)

1 1/2 pound(s) ground beef
1/4 cup(s) minced onion
1 package(s) 16 oz frozen mixed vegetables
1 can(s) cream of mushroom soup
1 package(s) 32 oz frozen tator tots
2 cup(s) shredded cheddar cheese
1 can(s) of milk (using the soup can to measure)
- salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Brown the beef with the onions in a skillet. Season the meat with the salt and pepper. Drain the excess grease from the browned beef. Place in a greased 13 x 9 baking pan.
  • Layer the frozen vegetables on top of the beef. Next layer the cheddar cheese. Then add the whole package of Tator tots, lining them up in rows so they all fit.
  • Whisk the soup and milk together in a bowl (I pour the milk into the soup can to measure). Pour the soup mixture over the top of the Tator tots.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 55 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
