Number Of Ingredients 8

1 (32 ounce) package frozen bite-size potato nuggets (such as Tater Tots®)
2 cups milk
1 (10 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup sour cream
1 cup chopped cooked ham
½ cup finely chopped onion
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Combine potato nuggets, milk, cream of mushroom soup, Cheddar cheese, sour cream, ham, onion, salt, and pepper in a slow cooker.
  • Cook on High, stirring occasionally, for 4 hours (or on Low for 5 to 7 hours).

This recipe was given to my daughter from one of her co-workers. We made it last night, the recipe is definitely a keeper.

4 stalks celery diced small
1 large onion diced small
3-4 Tbsp butter/margarine
7 c hot water
2 c cold water
1/2 c knorr brand powdered chicken bouillon
1 large 2 pound bag frozen tater tots
1 lb velveeta cheese cut in cubes
country white gravy mix (2 cup size)
2 c milk (less or more for desired thickness)
sliced green onion
1 pkg real bacon bits

Steps:

  • 1. In large pot saute celery and onion in butter until veggies are soft.
  • 2. Add 7 cups hot water and bring to a boil.
  • 3. Add bouillon and whisk to blend well, then add tater tots.
  • 4. Keep soup at a boil.
  • 5. In small bowl mix 2 cups cold water with gravy mix and whisk until smooth.
  • 6. Add this to boiling soup; stir well so it doesn't stick to bottom.
  • 7. Reduce heat and stir in cubed cheese.
  • 8. Add milk to desired thickness.
  • 9. Do not over cook because it will scorch and stick to bottom of pot.
  • 10. Once cheese is melted and blended in, soup should be done.
  • 11. You can stir bacon bits and green onion into soup or you can use as topping for each bowl when serving.

4 slices bacon, cut into 1 inch pieces
48 onion flavored tater tots
1 (15 ounce) can corn kernels, drained
1 (15 ounce) can chicken broth
2 cups whole milk
pepper

Steps:

  • In a heavy soup pot, brown bacon until crispy. Remove bacon to paper towels and drain pot.
  • Add frozen tater tots to pot, cook until being to thaw, 1 or 2 minutes.
  • Add bacon, corn, broth and milk to pot, stir to combine. Bring to a boil. Lower heat, and simmer 12-15 minutes, until potatoes are soft. Stir to break up tots, but leave some chunks.
  • Ladle into bowls, and top with pepper.

TATER TOT CASSEROLE WITHOUT CREAM OF SOUP

I needed some comfort food and thought tater tot casserole would fit the bill. But I had no cream of anything soup, so improvised with this method. It's probably healthier, too! Also, if you use an oven-proof pan to brown the meat, you don't have to transfer to a different baking pan.

1 lb ground beef
1/2 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic (or 1/2 tsp. garlic powder)
15 oz green beans (1 can or equivalent frozen)
1/2 tsp seasoned salt- your favorite brand
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp flour
1/2 tsp beef bouillon powder
1/2 c water
1/2 c milk
1/2 - 1 c shredded cheese - cheddar or similar
1/2 lb frozen tater tots, or enough to cover surface
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Brown beef, stirring to break up. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. When onion is translucent and beef is no longer pink, turn off heat. Drain grease.
  • 2. In small sauce pan, melt butter. Stir in flour until combined. Slowly add water, bouillon powder and milk, stirring constantly. Stir over medium-high heat until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  • 3. Meanwhile, stir beans and seasonings into beef. Stir in thickened sauce. Sprinkle cheese over surface, then add a layer of tater tots. Bake in oven for 40 minutes or until tater tots look golden and cheese is melted.

Topping (if desired):
1 lb lean ground beef
16 oz (1/2 bag) tater tots or crispy crowns
1 tbs instant onion flakes (optional)
1 can (10.25 oz) cheddar cheese soup
3/4 cup milk
1 beef stock cube
1 soup can (1.25 cups) of water
2 cups Velveeta
diced bacon
shredded cheddar cheese
chopped parsley

Steps:

  • Place tater tots in the bottom of a 4-6 quart slow cooker. Brown ground beef; drain well. Add to slow cooker. Add milk, soup, water and stock cube. Cover and cook on HI for 2 hours. Add the Velveeta and cook for an additional 1-1.5 hours. Stir well and serve. Top with any or all of the toppings if desired.
