1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder
⅛ teaspoon cayenne
1 ½ cups panko breadcrumbs
2 large eggs, beaten
1 medium yellow onion, sliced into 1/2 in (1 1/4 cm)
marinara sauce, for serving

Steps:

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the salt, pepper, flour, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne.
  • Add the panko and eggs to 2 separate shallow bowls.
  • Coat the onion rings in the flour, then in the eggs, then in the panko.
  • Working in batches, add the onion rings to the air fryer in a single layer and "fry" for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Serve with warm marinara sauce.

  • Wash the sliced onions in water.
  • Toss the onion rings in separate bowls of flour, melted ice cream, and cornmeal, while making sure you coat them evenly.
  • In a large pot, heat vegetable oil to 350 degrees F.
  • Deep fry the onion rings in vegetable oil for 1 to 2 minutes, or until golden brown.

1 large egg, lightly beaten

1 large white onion, or large yellow onion
1 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs, or panko bread crumbs (50 g)
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
3 large eggs, beaten
1 cup all-purpose flour
dipping sauce, of your choice, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425˚F (220˚C). Grease a baking sheet with nonstick spray or line with parchment paper.
  • Cut the onion crosswise into ½-inch (1 cm) slices and gently push apart each layer to get individual rings. Set aside.

4 pounds white colossal onions, peeled
2 eggs, beaten
1 quart whole milk
1 can beer
5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons baking powder

Steps:

  • Crosscut onions into 1/2-inch rings, discarding onion hearts. In separate container combine eggs, milk, and beer. Mix flour and baking powder thoroughly in separate container. Soak onions in milk mixture and coat onions in flour. This step is repeated a second time, and may be done a third time to insure that the entire onion is dusted with flour mixture. Fry onions in a deep-fryer until golden brown.
