GRANDMA BRUBAKER'S ORANGE COOKIES

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 325°. In a bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Beat in egg yolks and buttermilk. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with orange juice and zest. Add egg whites and beat until smooth. , Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake until set, about 10 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool completely., For icing, combine all ingredients and beat until smooth. Frost cooled cookies.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Beat butter until light & fluffy. Add the sugar,egg,tang & vanilla extract,beat for another minute or so. Add remaining dry ingredients,mix well. Roll heaping TBs into balls. Place 2" apart onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until tops are very lightly browned. Cool 5 minutes on sheet then transfer to wire racks to cool completely

- In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in orange juice and zest. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. , Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Remove to wire racks to cool. In a small bowl, combine icing ingredients until smooth; drizzle over cooled cookies.

- In a large bowl, cream butter, sugar and salt until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in egg, orange zest, orange juice and extract. Gradually beat in flour., Divide dough in half. Shape each into a disk. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour or until firm enough to roll., Preheat oven to 375°. On a floured surface, roll each portion of dough to 1/4-in. thickness. Cut with a floured 2-1/2-in. cookie cutter. Place 1 in. apart on greased baking sheets., Bake until edges are light brown, 8-10 minutes. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool completely., In a small bowl, mix confectioners' sugar, milk and, if desired, food coloring until smooth. Pipe or spread over cookies; let stand until set.

TANGY ORANGE COOKIES
Randomly came across this the other day...and just had to try them! Am I ever glad I did...The oranginess is amazing! And it has coconut which is awesome!

- Sift together flour, baking powder and salt, set aside. Cream butter, shortening and sugar in mixing bowl, add egg and beat well. Blend in dry ingredients gradually. Mix thoroughly, add orange juice concentrate and coconut, mix well. Drop by teaspoonful onto cookie sheets. Bake at 350 for 12-13 minutes. Frost while warm.
- Frosting...Mix together orange juice, water and powdered sugar and blend well. Drizzle over cookies while still warm.
- *I think these would be good with slivered almonds added. *I also think they would be good with 1 tsp of almond flavoring then too. *If you'd rather have just a hint of orange, use orange juice instead of the orange juice concentrate.
