1 loaf (18-20 inches) French bread
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
3/4 teaspoon celery seed
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3 tablespoons dried parsley flakes

Steps:

  • Cut bread in half crosswise. Make diagonal cuts, 1 in. apart, through bread but not through bottom. Combine all remaining ingredients. Spread half the butter mixture between bread slices. Spread remaining mixture over top and sides of bread., Place bread on double thickness of foil; cover loosely with more foil. Bake at 425° for 20-30 minutes. For last 5 minutes, remove foil covering bread to allow it to brown.

1 loaf french bread
12 slice swiss cheese
1 lb butter (softened) yes! 1 pound
1 Tbsp onion, grated
1 tsp mustard, prepared
2 tsp lemon juice, fresh
1 tsp poppy seeds
1 Tbsp beau monde seasoning

Steps:

  • 1. Slice french bread on the diagonal, 3/4 of the way through the bread. Make sure that you do not cut all the way through the bottom of the bread.
  • 2. Place one slice of cheese in each slice of bread.
  • 3. Mix remaining ingredients together and spread evenly over top of bread.
  • 4. Wrap loaf in foil and bake at 325-degrees for 25-30 minutes. Serve and Enjoy!

6 sweet rolls (available from Latin markets)
8 ounces roasted pork, from the shoulder or leg, thinly sliced
8 ounces thinly sliced ham
4 ounces thinly sliced Swiss cheese
3 pickles, thinly sliced lengthwise
6 tablespoons mustard
8 ounces butter

Steps:

  • Assemble the sandwich by slicing all the rolls and dividing the meat and cheese equally. Place the roasted pork, ham, and cheese slices on top of 1/2 of the roll. Place pickle slices on top. Spread mustard on the inside of the other half of the roll. Place the top half of the roll over the sandwich, to close. Spread butter on the outside of the top and bottom of the sandwich.
  • Cook in a very hot cast-iron griddle, or electric flat top, until heated through and golden brown on the outside.

3 to 3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour, divided
2 cups whole wheat flour, divided
1/3 cup mashed potato flakes
2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
2 cups warm milk (120° to 130°)
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 eggs
4 to 6 garlic cloves, minced
1 block (6 ounces) Swiss cheese, cut into 1/4-inch cubes
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon water

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup whole wheat flour, potato flakes, yeast and salt. Add milk and butter; beat for 2 minutes. Add eggs and garlic; beat for 2 minutes. Stir in the remaining whole wheat flour and enough remaining all-purpose flour to form a soft dough. Turn onto a floured surface; knead for 4 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese; knead 2 minutes longer or until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. Punch dough down. Divide in half; shape each half into a ball. Place on a greased baking sheets; flatten to 7-in. diameter. 1 egg
1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (4 oz)
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
Butter or margarine, softened
Grated Parmesan cheese, if desired
Freshly cracked pepper, if desired

Steps:

  • In medium bowl, mix 1 cup of the flour, the sugar, salt and yeast. In 1-quart saucepan, heat 1/3 cup butter, the water and milk over medium heat, stirring frequently, until very warm (120°F to 130°F). Pour over flour mixture; beat with electric mixer on low speed about 30 seconds or until blended. Beat in egg on medium speed; continue beating 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally.
  • Stir in remaining flour, the Swiss cheese and garlic. (If dough is sticky, stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons additional flour.) Cover; let rise in warm place about 45 minutes or until dough has doubled in size.
  • Grease 1-quart casserole with shortening or cooking spray. Stir down dough; shape into a ball. Place in casserole. Brush top with softened butter; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and pepper. 1 1/2 stick margarine-softened
2 Tbsp dried minced onion
1 tsp lawrey's seasoning salt
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp lemon juice

  • 1. Cut bread into 1" slices.(cutting diagonal strips down one side, repeating the strips on the opposite end to create a diamond effect to the 1" slices). Place Bread onto foil in a baking pan creating a bowl effect with foil so as the sauce won't flow onto pan).
  • 2. Place 1 slice cheese between each slice of the bread, making sure not to miss any slices of bread.
  • 3. Mix other ingredients together. Spread on top and sides of bread.
  • 4. Add another piece of foil over the top of the prepared bread covering completely. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.

2 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 cup milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups swiss cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Mix the flour, baking powder, salt and mustard together with a wire whisk.
  • Mix the milk, butter, eggs and cheese together with a fork.
  • Mix the two groups together with a wooden spoon. The batter should be lumpy. Pour into a greased 9x5 loaf pan and bake 55 to 60 minutes.
