1 pound sugar snap peas, trimmed
3 tablespoons garlic flavored olive oil
¼ cup low sodium soy sauce
¼ teaspoon sesame oil
2 drops chili oil
¼ teaspoon packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven broiler, and move oven rack into the top position.
  • Place the snap peas onto a baking pan, drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat. Spread the snap peas out into a single layer.
  • Broil the snap peas in the preheated oven until tender, about 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, mix together the soy sauce, sesame oil, chili oil, brown sugar, and sesame seeds in a large bowl. When the snap peas come out of the oven, toss them immediately with the sauce.

1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup unsalted butter
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
1 (16 ounce) package vanilla frosting
1 drop red food coloring, or as desired
1 drop green food coloring, or as desired
1 tablespoon red and green sprinkles, or as desired

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Blend flour, butter, powdered sugar, and salt in a food processor until combined. Place dough in a bowl and knead until it comes together.
  • Roll dough out onto waxed paper into a 1/2-inch thick square. Cut dough into 1/2-inch squares. Place bites onto a large cookie sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until light brown and edges are set, 18 to 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  • Divide vanilla frosting into 3 small bowls. Dye 1 bowl red using red food coloring and 1 green using green food coloring; leave third bowl uncolored. Frost cooled cookies and top with sprinkles as desired.

I got this recipe from a magazine several years ago, orginally from Barbara Briner of Texas. Great for appetizer parties!

1 (16 ounce) package bacon
1 (1 lb) package 2-inch smoked sausage
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

Steps:

  • Cut bacon into thirds.
  • Wrap each sausage with a third of a slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
  • Place in a baking dish in a single layer.
  • Sprinkle with brown sugar.
  • Bake for 35-45 minutes at 375 degrees.
  • Serve warm.
  • Makes about 48.
