2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup raisins, chopped
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup water
2 eggs

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan with shortening; lightly flour.
  • In large bowl, beat all ingredients except frosting with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Beat on high speed 3 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pan.
  • Bake 40 to 45 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • Frost cake with frosting.

1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon butter flavoring
1 teaspoon orange extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup cooked and mashed pumpkin or 1 cup cooked and mashed canned pumpkin
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup finely chopped pecans
2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease a 10-inch tube pan and set aside.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside.
  • Cream margarine and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs, 1 at a time, and beat well after each.
  • Add flavorings and blend.
  • Add pumpkin and sour cream and blend well.
  • Batter will have a curdled appearance.
  • Stir in dry ingredients just until mixed.
  • Combine pecans, brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice.
  • Spread half the batter in prepared pan.
  • Sprinkle with half the pecan mixture.
  • Spread remaining batter over, then sprinkle with remaining pecan mixture.

1/2 cup butter, softened
1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
3 large eggs, separated
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-3/4 cups cake flour
1-1/2 teaspoons ground allspice
1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
FROSTING:
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup water
2 large egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. In another bowl, whisk, flour, allspice, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream, beating well after each addition. With clean beaters, beat egg whites on medium speed until stiff. Fold into batter., Pour into two greased and floured 9-in. round baking pans. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely., In a small heavy saucepan over low heat, combine brown sugar, egg whites, water and cream of tartar. With a hand mixer, beat on low speed 1 minute. Continue beating on low over low heat until frosting reaches 160°, about 20 minutes., Pour into a large bowl; add vanilla. Beat on high until stiff peaks form, about 7 minutes. Spread between layers and over top and sides of cake. Refrigerate leftovers.

14 1/2 ounces boxed cake mix (I used Orange, but white or yellow would work fine, too)
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon clove
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 cup sour cream
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup oil
3 eggs
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, at room temp
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 oranges
2 teaspoons cloves

Steps:

  • Cake:.
  • Sift cake mix and spices into a mixing bowl.
  • Add sour cream, milk, eggs and oil.
  • Beat at low speed until dry ingredients are incorporated.Beat at high speed for 3 minute.
  • Pour batter into appropriate sized pans. (Look at cake mix package for suggestions. I used 2 nine inch round pans).
  • Bake according to cake mix package instructions. Cool before icing.

3/4 teaspoon baking soda

1-2/3 cups sugar
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1 cup sour cream
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Frosting:
1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, at room temperature
3 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon orange extract
3 tablespoons dried orange peel

Steps:

  • 1. Center a rack and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare the cake pans. 2. Dry whisk the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves together. Whisk in the sugar. 3. With the mixer on medium speed, beat together the melted and cooled butter, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla extract and continue beating on medium speed until thoroughly blended. 4. Gradually add the flour mixture and beat until thoroughly blended. 5. Pour the batter into the cake pans and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the cake layers test done. 6. Cool the layers in the pans for 10 minutes, then unmold onto cake racks and cool to room temperature. 7. Do not divide the layers, but do even up the top of the lower layer so that the layer stacks prettily. To Make the Frosting: 8. Cream the butter in the mixer at medium speed. 1 can (15.75 oz.) apple pie filling
1 container (16 oz.) sour cream
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Beat eggs, cake mix, water and oil in large bowl with mixer until blended. Stir in pie filling.
  • Pour into 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Bake 45 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 20 min.

  • 1. heat oven to 350. grease and flour 2 round 8 or91/2 round layer pans. measure all ingredients into large mixer bowl. blend 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping constantly. beat 3 minutes on high speed, scraping ocasionally.pour into pans .bake 30 to 35 minutes. cool, frost with your favorite butter ar cream cheese frosting,
