Sesame oil and freshly grated ginger are key to giving these skewers of flank steak an Asian 'zing' and will keep people coming back for more!

1 cup low-sodium soy sauce
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup sesame oil
3 green onions, thinly sliced
1 lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (1 1/2-pound) flank steak

Steps:

  • Whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, green onions, lemon juice, sesame seeds, ginger, and garlic together in a bowl until marinade is smooth.
  • Thinly slice steak with the grain into 1/4-inch thick pieces. Thread steak slices onto skewers and place in a flat plastic or glass container. Pour marinade over skewers. Cover container with plastic wrap, and refrigerate, 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Flip skewers and continue marinating in the refrigerator, 1 1/2 to 2 hours more.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat, and lightly oil the grate. Remove skewers from marinade, discarding marinade.
  • Cook steak skewers on the preheated grill until cooked through, 2 to 3 minutes per side.

4 (12-ounce) steaks, your choice
4 teaspoons seasoned salt, divided (recommended: Lawry's)
4 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper, divided
4 yellow onions
4 potatoes
16 large shrimp, grilled

Steps:

  • Preheat grill over medium-high heat.
  • Grill steaks to your desired doneness. Cut steak into 4 pieces after grilling. Season each with 1 teaspoon seasoned salt and pepper and skewer. Cut onion into chunks and place 2 chunks per skewer. Cut potato into chunks and place 2 chunks per skewer and add the grilled shrimp, 4 per skewer.

1 cup sugar
1 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 cup ketchup
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons ground ginger
2 pounds beef top sirloin steak, cut into 1-1/2-inch cubes
2 to 3 small zucchini, cut into 1-inch slices
1/2 pound medium fresh mushrooms
1 large green or sweet red pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 small onion, cut into 1-inch pieces
2 cups cubed fresh pineapple

Steps:

  • For marinade, mix first five ingredients. Place beef and half of the marinade in a large resealable plastic bag; seal bag and turn to coat. Cover and reserve remaining marinade. Refrigerate beef and marinade overnight., On metal or soaked wooden skewers, thread vegetables and, on separate skewers, thread beef with pineapple. Discard remaining marinade in bag. Grill, covered, over medium heat until vegetables are tender and beef reaches desired doneness, 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally., In a small saucepan, bring reserved marinade to a boil, stirring occasionally; cook 1 minute. Remove vegetables, pineapple and beef from skewers before serving. Serve with sauce.

1 1/2 pounds beef boneless sirloin, cut into 1/4-inch slices
1/2 cup Italian dressing
6 new potatoes ( 1/2 pound)
1 medium onion, cut into 6 wedges
6 small whole mushrooms
6 mini red bell peppers
6 mini pattypan squash

Steps:

  • Mix beef and dressing in shallow glass or plastic dish. Cover and refrigerate, stirring occasionally, at least 30 minutes but no longer than 24 hours.
  • Heat 1 inch water to boiling in 1 1/2-quart saucepan. Add potatoes. Boil about 15 minutes or until almost tender; drain. Cool slightly.
  • Heat coals or gas grill. Remove beef from marinade; reserve marinade. Thread beef, potatoes, onion, mushrooms, bell peppers and squash alternately on each of twelve 7-inch metal skewers, leaving space between each piece. Brush kabobs generously with marinade.
  • Cover and grill kabobs 4 to 6 inches from medium heat 12 to 15 minutes for medium beef doneness, turning frequently and brushing with marinade. Discard any remaining marinade.
