Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 can(s) reduced fat pillsbury crescent rolls (off-brand works well too!)
1/2 c sugar free maple syrup
1 Tbsp light butter
3 Tbsp cinnamon
1/4 c stevia/splenda (or sugar substitute of choice)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray 12 cup muffin tin with non-stick spray, (I suggest using non-stick muffin tin to prevent sticking!)
  • 2. Open up both cans of crescent dough, and cut each triangle into 3 equal-sized pieces. Roll each piece of dough into 3 equal-sized small balls, totaling 24 balls per pack of crescent rolls. (Note: balls should be smaller than golf balls, but big enough that about 4 balls will fit into each muffin tin).
  • 3. Combine the stevia/splenda (or whatever sugar substitute you choose) with 2 tbs of cinnamon in a small bowl. Toss the dough balls in the cinnamon-'sugar' mix until the balls are well coated.
  • 4. Next, melt the butter in microwave-safe bowl for about 30 seconds, (or until melted). Add the syrup and 1 tbs cinnamon to the melted butter, stir, and set aside.
  • 5. Place four balls into each individual muffin tin, and pour the butter-syrup mixture over each muffin tin, until the dough balls are almost covered in the syrup mixture, (if there isn't enough to cover each muffin tin, I just added a bit more syrup to each tin).
  • 6. Bake for 15- 20 minutes, or until a caramelized crust forms on the top of each little monkey bread. Remove from the oven, and let cool for about 15 minutes. Use a knife to remove the edges and serve on a pretty plate... Preferably while still warm!

SINGLE SERVE MONKEY BREAD RECIPE

Make monkey bread for one! Frozen dinner rolls rise overnight to make the perfect single serving of this breakfast treat. Great for portion control!

Provided by @MakeItYours

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 frozen dinner rolls (such as Rhodes)
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon packed brown sugar

Steps:

  • Place rolls on a plate and cover loosely with plastic wrap. Allow to thaw for about 2 hours (don't let them rise, just let them defrost). Cut each roll into 6 pieces.
  • Spray an oven safe container or ramekin (mine was a 7 ounce ramekin) with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Stir together granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll each piece of dough in the cinnamon sugar and place in the ramekin. Stir melted butter and brown sugar, pour over dough.
  • You now have two options: one, let it sit at room temperature for about one hour, then continue to the next step to bake. Or two, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350°F. Remove ramekin from the refrigerator and let come to room temperature while the oven preheats. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until the dough is cooked through. Cool slightly before eating.
