Shrimp and Crab Nachos image

A taco with a twist. You will love these nachos with shrimp and crab. The seafood isn't too overpowering, and it is just the right touch to a Mexican night at home. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, or any other toppings you like.

10 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 ounces fresh crabmeat
½ (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
8 flat taco shells
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
¼ cup sour cream, for topping
¼ cup salsa, or as needed

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Bring 1 quart of water to a boil in a large pot. Place shrimp and crab in a steamer basket on top of the pot without touching water; cover. Steam until shrimp are pink and cooked through, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove shrimp and crab meat from steamer and chop. Combine seafood mixture and cream cheese in a bowl. Lay taco shells on a baking sheet and top with seafood-cream cheese mixture. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until cheese is completely melted, about 15 minutes. Remove from oven.
  • Cut each taco into 4 pieces using a pizza cutter and top with sour cream and salsa.

1 teaspoon olive oil
1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 -3 teaspoons ground cumin, toasted
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
1 lb jumbo lump crab meat, cleaned and picked
3/4 cup sour cream
1 bunch green onion, sliced
1 (9 ounce) bag corn tortilla chips (yellow, white or blue)
3 cups monterey jack pepper cheese, grated
1/2 cup pickled jalapeno pepper, sliced

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp, cumin, and garlic; saute 3 minutes or until shrimp are pink.
  • Combine cooked shrimp, crab, sour cream, and onion in a large bowl.
  • Spread tortilla chips on an aluminum foil-lined baking sheet. Top with shrimp mixture. Sprinkle with cheese, and top with jalapeno.
  • Broil 5 to 6 inches from heat 2 minutes or until cheese melts. Serve immediately.
