These are my favorite appetizer! They're very quick, easy and good. I got the recipe out of one of those school fundraiser cookbooks.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lb beef smokies
3/4 cup chili sauce or 3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon grated onion
2 tablespoons lemon juice
3 ounces Bourbon or 3 ounces whiskey

Steps:

  • Mix chili sauce/ketchup, brown sugar, onion, lemon juice and whiskey in saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Add weiners and simmer for 30 minutes.
  • These can also be put in a crock pot to simmer.

1/4 cup minced onion
2 teaspoons butter
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon vinegar
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon paprika
2 -3 dozen cocktail franks

Steps:

  • Combine onion and butter in a 1-1/2-quart casserole. Cook covered on high in microwave for 3 minutes until onions are soft. Add 1/4 cup of water and the remaining ingredients except the wieners.
  • Cook covered on high for 2 1/2 minutes or until the sauce is bubbly. Stir in the wieners and cook covered for 4 minutes or until wieners are hot. Let stand covered for 2 minutes before serving.

I picked this recipe up tailgating with friends at one of the many Notre Dame games I've been to (thanks Adam and Alex, GO ND!!). It couldn't be easier. While waiting for the sauce to cook down, throw the football with your friends and have a few beers!!

1 (12 ounce) bottle cayenne or 1 (12 ounce) bottle hot sauce
1 (12 ounce) bottle beer
1 package cocktail franks (or hot dogs cut into chunks)

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together and simmer until liquids are reduced to a very thick sauce.
  • Note: Very Spicy, but addictive!
  • You will likely need more beer when eating these!

2 lbs frankfurters, dinner
1 cup barbecue sauce
1 cup catsup
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 dash Tabasco sauce
1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Cut the franks into pieces 1/2" long.
  • Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan and simmer for 1 hour.
  • Serve hot.

1 lb hot dogs cut into 4ths
1/2 c each brown sugar, whiskey, ketchup

Steps:

  • 1. Mix brown sugar, whiskey, and ketchup in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to low and simmer 30 minutes. Add hot dogs and simmer another 30 minutes or until reduced enough to just glaze the hot dogs.
  • 2. Serve warm with toothpicks

Irish Cream Liqueur (Eggless Version) image

This is an eggless version of Irish Cream Liqueur which uses Rye whiskey. I would think you could substitute your favorite whiskey (Scotch, Bourbon or Irish) for the rye if you prefer. Recipe makes 38oz = 1123.79ml A serving size is 1.3oz (37ml) = 29.23 servings per recipe

2 teaspoons instant coffee
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
6 ounces rye whiskey

Steps:

  • Place first 3 ingredients in a blender and process at low speed for 10 seconds.
  • Add vanilla and almond extracts and condensed milk, blend again for 1 minute.
  • Add rye whiskey and blend again for 25 seconds.
  • Can be served straight, on the rocks, in mixed drinks or over ice cream.
  • Store tightly capped in the refrigerator for up to one month.
  • Recipe makes 38oz = 1123.79ml (approx).
