DILLY RYE BOAT DIP

This is just your classic bread boat dip, but it will never let you down. Great for parties, or casual get togethers. Corned beef may be used in place of chipped beef, as well as additional celery salt for the Beau Monde seasoning.

1 (1 pound) loaf round rye bread
1 cup sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise
1 (4 ounce) jar dried chipped beef, chopped
1 teaspoon Beau Monde ™ seasoning
2 teaspoons celery salt
3 tablespoons dried dill weed

Steps:

  • Using a bread knife, remove the 'crown' of the bread. Hollow out the inside of the loaf, and cut into bite size cubes for dipping.
  • In a medium bowl, blend sour cream, mayonnaise, chipped beef, Beau Monde seasoning, celery salt, and dill weed. Mix thoroughly, cover, and chill for at least 1 hour.
  • Spoon the chilled dip into the hollow bread loaf, and serve with cubed bread for dipping.

This was the go to party dish of the '80's. Time to make it new again.

1 pt sour cream
2 tsp dried onion
1 1/3 c mayonnaise
1 dried parsley
1 small jar dried beef
1 tsp dried dill weed
1 loaf round unsliced rye bread

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all ingredients with the exception of bread and chill.
  • 2. Cut out center of a round rye bread. Cube bread that is removed.
  • 3. Fill center of bread with chilled dip. Arrange bread cubes around rye bread for dipping. As you finish dip, tear soaked rye bread.

1 1/2 c sour cream
1 1/2 c mayonnaise
3 tsp dill weed
3 tsp minced onion
1 Tbsp beaumont seasoning
3 pkg chopped, smoked and pressed beef (sold in 2oz pkg)
THE ABOVE INGREDIENTS MAKE A GREAT DIP FOR A VARIETY OF BREAD(S) LOAVES

Steps:

  • 1. Cut the chopped, smoked and pressed beef into approximately 3/4 inch pieces.
  • 2. Mix all ingredients together. Best to mix a day ahead of time.
  • 3. Cut out center of (unsliced) round loaf of rye (or other favorite bread), saving the cut out. Cut extra bread and cut out into large bite size pieces.
  • 4. Place dip mixture into "rye boat".
  • 5. Place cut or pulled pieces of breads and place around the boat.
  • 6. Scoop up the dip with the bread pieces and enjoy!

One of my mom's favorite dips that she used on her Christmas Eve buffet. You can put this in a hollowed out rye bread, or just serve with assorted crackers or raw veggies. It's addictive!

1 pt sour cream
1 1/3 c mayonnaise
2 tsp dill weed
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 small jars dried chipped beef, chopped fine
1 to 2 Tbsp horseradish
1 to 2 tsp hot sauce
1 tsp or more worchestershire sauce

Steps:

  • 1. Dice the beef and onion.
  • 2. With an electric mixer mix the sour cream and mayo well, add everything else.
  • 3. Cover and chill.
  • 4. This is especially nice in a round of pumpernickle or Rye bread, but crackers and raw veggies are good go withs as welll.

1 round loaf of milwaukee rye bread or 1 light rye bread
1 1/2 cups mayonnaise
1 1/3 cups sour cream
2 teaspoons dill weed
2 teaspoons beau monde seasoning
2 tablespoons parsley flakes
2 tablespoons onion flakes or 2 tablespoons onion powder

Steps:

  • Cut round top off of loaf to use for a lid.
  • Hollow out loaf of bread and save insides for dipping.
  • Mix all ingredients and pour into hollowed out loaf.
  • Put "lid" on and let set in refrigerator 3 or 4 hours till well chilled.
  • Dip insides, crackers or toasted party rye slices--use your imagination.
