1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
1 teaspoon celery seeds
1 teaspoon hot smoked paprika
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 head green cabbage, finely shredded
1 medium carrot, peeled and shredded
6 green onions, green and pale green parts only, thinly sliced
3 tablespoons grated Spanish onion

Steps:

  • Whisk together the ketchup, mayonnaise, vinegar, celery seeds, paprika, and some salt and pepper.
  • Put the cabbage, carrot, green onions and Spanish onions in a large bowl; season with salt and pepper, and toss to combine. Pour the dressing over the vegetables and toss again. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and up to 8 hours.

1 head green cabbage, finely shredded
2 large carrots, finely shredded
3/4 cup best-quality mayonnaise
2 tablespoons sour cream
2 tablespoons grated Spanish onion
2 tablespoons sugar, or to taste
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 tablespoon dry mustard
2 teaspoons celery salt
Salt and freshly ground pepper

Steps:

  • Combine the shredded cabbage and carrots in a large bowl. Whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, onion, sugar, vinegar, mustard, celery salt, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl, and then add to the cabbage mixture. Mix well to combine and taste for seasoning; add more salt, pepper, or sugar if desired.

1 bunch fresh dill, chopped
1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • Mix together coleslaw mix (or cabbage) and dill in a large bowl.

5 c finely shredded cabbage
2 medium apples
1 small carrot
1 tsp minced onion
1 tsp minced dill or parsley
2 Tbsp mayonnaise
1 tsp sugar
1/2 c sour cream

Steps:

  • 1. Sprinkle the shredded cabbage with salt and let stand 15 minutes, then scald for 3 minutes. Drain well and dry in a towel.
  • 2. Chop the apples very fine or grate them on a coarse grater. Grate the carrot.
  • 3. Mix all the ingredients together and let stand 30 minutes on ice (or in refrigerator) before serving.
