The blended Scotch version of the Manhattan. Named after the title character in a Sir Walter Scott novel, Rob Roy was a Robin Hood-like figure.

ΒΌ cup blended Scotch whiskey
2 tablespoons sweet vermouth
4 ice cubes
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 maraschino cherry

Steps:

  • Pour Scotch and vermouth into a glass with ice cubes. Shake in bitters, stir, and garnish with a maraschino cherry.

These are another of my favorite cookies and the recipe was given to me by a neighbor many years ago.

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 c shortening ( i use 1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter
1 1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/4 c sour milk
2 eggs
3/4 tsp soda
1 3/4 c flour
1 1/2 c quick oats (oatmeal)
1 c raisins
1/2 c nuts ( i use walnuts)

Steps:

  • 1. Turn on oven at 350* cream shortening, brown sugar and eggs.
  • 2. Mix dry ingredients together and add alternating with milk. Add oatmeal, raisins and nuts. Mix well
  • 3. Using an ice cream scoop or spoon drop cookies on cookie sheet pan. Bake for 14 min or until done. Don't over cook.
