Time 1h25m

Number Of Ingredients 10

For the Mint Syrup:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
For the Pitcher Mojito:
1 1/2 cups light rum
1 to 1 1/2 cups mint syrup, to taste
1 1/4 cups freshly squeezed lime juice, from 6 to 8 limes
Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish
Lime slices, for garnish

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the sugar and stir constantly until it is completely dissolved.
  • Reduce the heat to a gentle simmer and tear the mint leaves while adding them to the syrup. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from the heat and let cool completely.
  • Strain the mint from the syrup using a fine-mesh strainer.
  • Transfer the mint syrup to an airtight bottle or jar, and keep it refrigerated.
  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Juice 6 to 8 limes , straining out the pulp, to produce about 1 1/2 cups of juice.
  • In a pitcher, add the rum and 1 cup each of the mint syrup and lime juice. Add more syrup or juice to taste; make this base a little strong because it will be diluted with club soda. Keep chilled until needed.
  • Just before you're ready to serve the mojitos, add the chilled club soda to the pitcher.
  • Pour the sparkling mojito mix into ice-filled glasses. Garnish each with a sprig of mint and lime slice.

REFRESHING MOJITO BY THE PITCHER MOJITOS

Refreshing Mojito by the Pitcher Mojitos image

This is a refreshing Cuban drink. It's hard to stop drinking these on a hot summers day. I made these for the fourth of July and we went on to 3 yes 3 pitchers! If you don't have a muddle stick try a mortar and pestle or the end of a wooden rolling pin. Please use fresh lime if you cannot go ahead and try the already bottled lime juice but if you do think about that when you rate this recipe! I did both and there's nothing like fresh! Same goes for the fresh mint if you need to you can use frozen but I DON'T recommend extract. And for the sugar real granular is what helps muddles the lime and extract the mint oils from the leaves.

MOJITOS BY THE PITCHER

Mojitos by the Pitcher image

I have served this to people who have sworn that they dislike mojitos and they love it. I believe it is the fresh ingredients and the use of sugar, instead of simple syrup, muddled together that makes this cocktail refreshing and delicious. It takes a little bit of work but the results are well worth it. Serve over ice.

THE REAL MOJITO

The Real Mojito image

This is an authentic recipe for mojito. I sized the recipe for one serving, but you can adjust it accordingly and make a pitcher full. It's a very refreshing drink for hot summer days. Be careful when drinking it, however. If you make a pitcher you might be tempted to drink the whole thing yourself, and you just might find yourself talking Spanish in no time! Tonic water can be substituted instead of the soda water but the taste is different and somewhat bitter.

½ lime, cut into 4 wedges
2 tablespoons white sugar, or to taste

Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, and muddle again to release the lime juice. Do not strain the mixture. Fill the glass almost to the top with ice. Pour the rum over the ice, and fill the glass with carbonated water. Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge.
