Wow! They're not Peanut Butter Cookies image

Being allergic to peanuts, I am always looking for peanut substitutes. The best I have found so far is Wowbutter manufactured by Hilton Foods, Staffa, Ontario, Canada. It uses cane sugar and has no added colors, flavours or preservatives. Also Wowbutter is gluten free. This recipe was originally my Auntie Cakey's(as we used to call her). I have altered the recipe a little by using half margarine and half shortening. I like the textre and flavour of the cookie with this combination. I

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 cup(s) margarine
1/2 cup(s) shortening
1 cup(s) soy nut butter or peanut butter
3/4 cup(s) white sugar
1 cup(s) brown sugar, firmly packed
2 - eggs
3 cup(s) flour
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350° F
  • Cream together margarine, shortening, white sugar and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well
  • combine dry ingedients and add to creamed mixture
  • add chocolate chips and mix,
  • Scoop with a # 50 scoop, place on a lined cookie sheet
  • flatten with a fork dipped in milk to give a shiny finish to the cookie.
  • Bake in a 350° F oven for 10 mins
  • Remove from oven, cool 3 minutes and then remove from cookie sheet and finish cooling on a wire rack. Store in air tight container
