World's Best Tuna Casserole image

Even people who hate canned tuna and hate tuna casseroles, LOVE this casserole. I've been serving it now for over 40 years and it remains a favorite of my family.

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 can(s) tuna, packed in water
1 can(s) cream of mushroom soup
1 1/3 c milk, 2%
1 can(s) sliced or diced water chestnuts, drained
1 small chopped green pepper
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
2 c sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 box 8 oz. small macaroni

Steps:

  • 1. Mix all ingredients, reserving 1/3rd of cheese.
  • 2. Put mixture in a nonstick 9X11" casserole pan or spray your pan with some Pam first.
  • 3. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top of casserole.
  • 4. Bake uncovered in 375 degree oven for 1 hr. 15 minute to 1 hr. 30 minutes or until mixture is no longer soupy. If after one hour casserole is browned, you can cover with aluminum foil loosely for remaining time in oven.
