Whole Wheat Bread image

This recipe makes 2-1 lb loaves of fresh whole wheat bread. This is better than any store bought bread. The dough in this recipe is also versitile as it can be used for the following: Cinnamon Rolls Monkey Bread Hot Dog Buns Hamburger Buns Bread Sticks Dinner Rolls Pizza Crust I will post recipes for these eventually.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/3 c olive oil or melted butter
1/3 c honey
1 1/2 c warm water
3 c hard white wheat berries, milled
1 Tbsp vital wheat gluten
1 Tbsp yeast
2 tsp salt

Steps:

  • 1. In a 1 1/2 - 2 lb bread machine layer all the above ingredients in order listed.
  • 2. Set the bread machine to dough cycle. Scrape down the sides of bread machine as needed.
  • 3. When you touch the dough after it has kneaded for about 10 minutes it should feel slightly tacky but not to where the dough sticks to your fingers. If it feels too tacky and the dough sticks to your fingers, add 1-2 tbsp of flour, 1 tbsp at a time If it doesn't feel tacky enough add 1-2 tbsp of water, 1 tbsp at a time. If unsure you can leave it as is and it will still turn out. Bread making is learnind as you go. Trial and error. If
  • 4. Grease 2 loaf pans.
  • 5. When the dough cycle is complete remove the dough and divide in half.
  • 6. Shape dough to fit into greased loaf pans, tucking extra dough under to make for a nice loaf.
  • 7. Place in oven and allow to rise for about 45 minutes or until doubled.
  • 8. Bake at 350' for 35 minutes or until nicely golden.
