White Chicken Chili image

My sister-in-law gave me this recipe. My husband doesn't normally like any chili that's white or has chicken in it (he says it's not natural- lol!)However, he loved this version! So this one is a keeper!

Number Of Ingredients 20

1 pound(s) cooked chicken, diced (i used rotisserie chicken)
1 - onion, diced
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
1 tablespoon(s) olive oil
31 ounce(s) great northern beans. drained and rinsed
14 1/2 ounce(s) chicken broth
8 ounce(s) canned green chilies
1 teaspoon(s) salt
1 teaspoon(s) ground cumin
1 teaspoon(s) dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon(s) black pepper
1/4 teaspoon(s) cayenne pepper
8 ounce(s) sour cream or greek yogurt
1/2 cup(s) whipping cream
TOPPINGS:
- avocado
- sour cream
- monterey jack cheese
- crushed tortilla chips
- fresh cilantro

Steps:

  • Saute onions and garlic powder in olive oil until softened. Add chicken, beans, broth, chilies, salt, cumin, oregano, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes.
  • Remove from heat, stir in sour cream and whipping cream. Heat slightly and serve.
  • *Serve with your choice of topping but is very good with all the ones listed above.
