Wheat Thins (Home made) image

I got this recipe from a recipe book that my church distributes to needy families that it helps with basic staples, meat and fresh vegetables. I think it is great, and wanted to share it with you. I'm always looking for good home made cracker recipes, as crackers are so expensive, and anything home made you have so much more control over what goes into it!

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 3/4 cup(s) whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cup(s) all-purpose white flour
1/3 cup(s) canola oil
3/4 teaspoon(s) salt
1 cup(s) water

Steps:

  • Mix the flours together in a large mixing bowl.
  • Mix in a blender or beat the oil, salt and water.
  • Add liquid mixture to the dry, mixing well but as little as possible.
  • Roll as thin as possible on an un-greased cookie sheet-not more than 1/8th of an inch thick. Mark with a knife for size of crackers you want, but do not cut through. Prick each cracker a few times with a fork or toothpick. Sprinkle lightly with salt, garlic salt or onion salt if desired.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F, until crisp and light brown, about 30 minutes.
