Wacky Chocolate Depression Cake image

This is a dense, but very moist cake, and so easy to make. It's not overpowering with chocolate. Fluffy frosting mixes up in seconds. Change up the pudding in the frosting to your liking. I used vanilla tonight. Mix all in one bowl, and no eggs. My photo's

Number Of Ingredients 13

3 c all-purpose flour
2 c sugar
6 Tbsp baking cocoa
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 c water
2/3 c vegetable oil
2 tsp vinegar
2 tsp vanilla extract
FROSTING
1 c milk
1 pkg (3.9 ounces) instant chocolate pudding mix - or whatever flavor you prefer
1 (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed

Steps:

  • 1. In a bowl, combine the first five ingredients. Add the water, oil, vinegar and vanilla. Beat on low speed for 1 minute. Beat on medium for 1 minute.
  • 2. Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
  • 3. For frosting, in a bowl, beat the milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes. Beat in whipped topping. Spread over cake. Refrigerate leftovers.
