Vanilla Brown Sugar Syrup image

A tasty yummy syrup that will go good on waffles

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 vanilla bean
1/4 c strained fresh pineapple juice
1 1/2 c packed dark brown sugar
1 1/2 c water
3 Tbsp unsalted butter
1/8 tsp salt

Steps:

  • 1. Halve vanilla bean and scrape seeds into a 2 quart heavy saucepan, then add pod and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved., then boil until syrupy and reduced to about 1 1/3 cup, about 20 minutes. Cool to warm and discard vanilla bean pod.
  • 2. Syrup can be made 3 days ahead and chilled, covered. Reheat over low heat.
