This is a most awesome syrup for drizzling on sweet buns, pancakes, ice cream, crepes, you name it! Between the buttery brown sugar goodness, the lick of madagascar vanilla paste, and kiss of cinnamon, this is truely delicious!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/4 cup butter
2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
3 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup pecan pieces or 1/2 cup walnut pieces
1/4 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or 1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Simmer (at low boil) together butter, water, brown sugar, cinnamon, and raisins for 1 minute. Stir in vanila bean paste.
  • Enjoy!

Yield Makes about 1 1/3 cups

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 vanilla bean
1/4 cup strained fresh pineapple juice, squeezed with your hands from pineapple rind (reserved from topping for pecan waffles )
1 1/2 cups packed dark brown sugar
1 1/2 cups water
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/8 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Halve vanilla bean and scrape seeds into a 2-quart heavy saucepan, then add pod and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved, then boil until syrupy and reduced to about 1 1/3 cups, about 20 minutes. Cool to warm and discard vanilla bean pod.

1 1/2 c packed dark brown sugar
1 1/2 c water
3 Tbsp unsalted butter
1/8 tsp salt

Steps:

  • 1. Halve vanilla bean and scrape seeds into a 2 quart heavy saucepan, then add pod and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved., then boil until syrupy and reduced to about 1 1/3 cup, about 20 minutes. Cool to warm and discard vanilla bean pod.
  • 2. Syrup can be made 3 days ahead and chilled, covered. Reheat over low heat.
