BROWN SUGAR VANILLA RAISIN (OR NUT) SYRUP:
This is a most awesome syrup for drizzling on sweet buns, pancakes, ice cream, crepes, you name it! Between the buttery brown sugar goodness, the lick of madagascar vanilla paste, and kiss of cinnamon, this is truely delicious!

Steps:
- Simmer (at low boil) together butter, water, brown sugar, cinnamon, and raisins for 1 minute. Stir in vanila bean paste.

VANILLA BROWN SUGAR SYRUP
Steps:
- Halve vanilla bean and scrape seeds into a 2-quart heavy saucepan, then add pod and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved, then boil until syrupy and reduced to about 1 1/3 cups, about 20 minutes. Cool to warm and discard vanilla bean pod.

- 1. Halve vanilla bean and scrape seeds into a 2 quart heavy saucepan, then add pod and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved., then boil until syrupy and reduced to about 1 1/3 cup, about 20 minutes. Cool to warm and discard vanilla bean pod.
- 2. Syrup can be made 3 days ahead and chilled, covered. Reheat over low heat.
