The original recipe called for 4c of white sugar and no nutmeg or allspice... needless to say it was enough sugar to put you in a coma! I'm eager to try my own spin on the original recipe and will post results. Update: Family and Friends LOVED it!!!

Steps:
- 1. Peel, core and finely chop apples and place in crock pot.
- 2. In medium bowl white sugar, dark brown sugar, cinnamon, ground cloves, salt, nutmeg and allspice. Pour mixture over apples and mix well.
- 3. Cook on high one hour. Mash with a potato masher 3-5 minutes.
- 4. Cook on low 6-9 hours, stirring and mashing occasionally until mixture is thickened and dark brownish.
- 5. Uncover and continue to cook 45 to 60 minutes on low. Mash with potato masher to increase smoothness. Put in immersion blender if necessary.
- 6. Spoon mixture into sterile containers, cover and refrigerate or freeze.
