The Space Needle image

The Space Needle cocktail was created for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. It was served at the revolving restaurant at the top of the Space Needle. The menu stated, "a special drink in a very special container. West Indies rum and flavoring liqueurs create a delightful new taste sensation. $2.00". It was served in a special Space Needle-shaped glass, and for a dazzling effect it had a cake candle burning on the top (to resemble the "needle of flame" that burned at the tip of the Space Needle during the Fair's run). At the table, the candle was distinguished and replaced with a drinking straw.
