Texas Beans with Bacon image

This is great take-a-long dish. It's a rich and wonderful side dish. I've made this for as long as I can remember. I used to take to work luncheons at AT&T, and it's a real man-pleaser.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 pound(s) bacon fried crisp and crumbled
1/2 pound(s) lean ground beef browned
1/4 cup(s) diced onion
1/2 cup(s) catsup
1 teaspoon(s) salt
1/2 cup(s) dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon(s) dry mustard
1 can(s) green lima beans
1 can(s) dark red kidney beans
1 can(s) baked beans (your favorite..i used bush's original)

Steps:

  • Fry bacon, drain, crumble and set aside. Drain all but about a tablespoon of the bacon fat, then brown the ground beef with onions.
  • Put all ingredients in a bean pot if you have one, or a ceramic baking dish and mix well. Bake 350 for 45 minutes. NOTE: If I don't double, I use a large or 2 small cans of baked beans and it goes a little farther.
