Tea Bread image

This has been in the family cookbook almost forever...it is easy to make and tastes wonderful!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 c hot steeped tea
1 c raisins, currants, sultanas, etc.
1 c brown sugar
1 egg
2 c flour
2 tsp baking powder

Steps:

  • 1. Mix the hot tea, fruit, and brown sugar in a bowl (don't forget to remove the teabag after its steeped to strong)
  • 2. Leave this mixture to soak overnight.
  • 3. Next morning, add egg, flour, and baking powder. Mix well. Put into greased 9x5 loaf pan. Bake at 250 degrees for 1-1/2 hours.Test center for doneness. Slice and serve warm or cold with butter or jam.
