Tasty Meatloaf with Sweet and Savory Glaze image

I like to experiment with different ingredients when making a meatloaf. I settled on this recipe because it makes a really tender meatloaf. I think the glaze is a nice touch of sweet to balance the savory.

Time 1h45m

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 lb ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 Tbsp yellow mustard
6 Tbsp tomato paste
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
4 wasa sourdough crisp crackers, finely crushed
2 eggs, lightly beaten
salt and pepper, to taste
SWEET AND SAVORY GLAZE
1/2 c ketchup
1 Tbsp maple syrup
1/4 c red wine

Steps:

  • 1. Work all ingredients into the beef until well combined. Form into a loaf and place in a baking pan. I like to place it on a rack. If using a rack, pour 1/2 cup of water in pan to prevent drippings from burning.
  • 2. For the glaze, whisk together ingredients and pour over the top of the meatloaf.
  • 3. Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
