Sweet and Sour Beans image

A recipe adapted from an Amish cookbook that is reminiscent of its German origins. Make sure to use a variety of beans. If cutting the recipe for a smaller amount, still try to use several kinds of beans.

1/2 Tbsp cider vinegar, to start
2 can(s) green beans
1 can(s) yellow beans
1 can(s) red beans
1 can(s) navy beans
1 can(s) pork and beans

Steps:

  • 1. Fry bacon and onions, drain fat. Crumble bacon. Add other ingredients except beans. Taste and adjust seasonings.
  • 2. Add beans using several different varieties. As long as there are about 5x15 ounce cans or 5 pints total.
  • 3. Bake at 350ºF for an hour or in a slow cooker for 3-4 hours. Add about 1/2 cup water if using slow cooker method. Check occasionally to see if you need to add more water.
