SUGAR-CRUSTED FRENCH TOAST image

2 eggs plus 1 extra yolk
1 3/4 cups milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
4 Tbsp butter
12 slices of white bread

Steps:

  • 1. Whisk eggs, yolk, milk, 1/4 cup sugar, vanilla, and salt in a bowl. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 Tbsp butter. When the bubbles calm down, sprinkle 1 1/2 tsps sugar and melt to caramelize. 2. Dunk a slice of bread in the bowl; place in skillet. Repeat with two more slices. Cook until undersides are deep golden. Sprinkle each slice with 1/2 tsp sugar; flip and cook until golden. 3. Wipe out the pan with a paper towel; repeat steps with remaining bread.
