Sugar Cream Pie image

This is a staple of the Hoosier State. This particular recipe is as close to the local Brand Name Wicks, as I have found.

Number Of Ingredients 8

3/4 cup(s) sugar or splenda
2 cup(s) half and half
1/2 cup(s) butter
1/4 cup(s) cornstarch
1 prebaked pie crust
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
1 pinch(es) nutmeg
2 - pats of butter

Steps:

  • Mix first four ingredients in a sauce pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring until thickened.
  • Removed from heat and stir in vanilla.
  • Pour into prebaked pie crust.
  • cut pats of butter in half and put on top of filling. Can sprinkle with nutmeg if you desire.
  • Melt butter And allow top of pie to bubble slightly under broiler.
  • Cool and serve. Refrigerate leftovers
