STREUSEL-TOPPED APPLE PIE image

5 Granny Smith apples, peeled & sliced
1/3 cup firmly packed golden brown sugar
1 T cornstarch
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 pie shell
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, room temperature

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Toss together apples, brown sugar,cornstarch, and cinnamon. Place in pie crust. Mix together flour and 1/2 cup sugar. Add butter and cut in until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle over apples. Bake 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees. Bake until apples are tender, about 40 minutes. Serve warm.
