Strawberry Pie image

My family loves strawberries but they were not so crazy about the premade glaze you can buy at the store. I spent a couple days coming up with a glaze that would sweaten tart strawberries but not over power them. I have won several awards with this pie and hope you enjoy it as much as we do! Don't be afraid to add more...

Time 1h10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 c water
3/4 c granulated sugar
4 Tbsp corn starch
3 Tbsp dry strawberry jello
1 qt fresh strawberries, washed, cleaned and quartered
1 graham cracker crust (you can make you own)

Steps:

  • 1. Prepare strawberries and place in a medium bowl, set aside.
  • 2. In a heavy saucepan combine the water, sugar and corn starch. Stir to mix well then cook over medium heat until thick and clear stirring often. Once glaze is thick and clear, remove from heat and allow to cool COMPLETELY stirring ONLY to release steam.
  • 3. After glaze is completely cooled, add jello and stir only to mix well. Add mixture to the prepared strawberries and stir to coat.
  • 4. Spoon mixture into crust and if desired top with whipped topping...keep refrigerated!
  • 5. To prevent pie from drying out you will need to keep it covered...that is where a ready made crust w/lid comes in handy.
