Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
1 large egg yolk
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter
2 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
strawberry jam

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Cream together softened butter, sugar and salt.Add egg yolk and vanilla and mix until well combined.Add in flour, will become crumbly. Knead mixture on a floured surface. Roll into a log and wrap in plastic wrapping. Let chill in the fridge or freezer.Roll out dough to 1/8″ thick and use cookie cutters to cut 1/2 of the cookies as solid hearts, and 1/2 the cookies with the center cut out. Space evenly on a baking tray and place in the fridge a few minutes before baking.Bake in the oven for 16-18 minutes until the edges turn slightly golden brown.After all of the cookies are baked. Combine butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla to make a cream mixture.Pipe the cream filling on the backs of the cookies with the center cut out, then adhere that cookie to one that does not have the cut out.Fill center of cookies with strawberry jam.Lightly sprinkle powdered sugar on top of the cookies.
