Southern Barbecue Spaghetti Sauce image

I made this recipe cause I thought it would be an interesting twist on spaghetti. My husband didn't too much like it so I won't be making it again. I hope someone else out there will enjoy it!

1 lb lean ground turkey or beef
2 medium onions, chopped
1 1/2 c sliced fresh mushrooms
1 medium green pepper, chopped
2 clove garlic, minced
1 can(s) 14 1/2 oz. diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can(s) 12 oz tomato paste
1 can(s) 8 oz. tomato sauce
1 c ketchup
1/2 c beef broth
2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp ground cumin
2 tsp chili powder
12 c hot cooked spaghetti

Steps:

  • 1. In a large non-stick skillet, cook the meat, onions, mushrooms, green pepper and garlic over medium heat till meat is no longer pink; drain.
  • 2. Transfer to a slow cooker. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, ketchup, broth, worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, cumin and chili powder. Mix well. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours. Serve over spaghetti.
