Southern Alabama Pecan Pie image

Everyone loves it. Special note: Was the GRAND PRIZE RECIPE at the 2004 Alabama Pecan Festival in Mobile in the Tillman's Corner Area. Comes every year about in November. Recipe makes 2 pies. Tillman's Corner is in Mobile, Al.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c granulated sugar
3 eggs- lightly beaten
1/2 c light corn syrup
1/2 c regular syrup-any kind
3 Tbsp butter-- melted
1 c broken pecans
2 unbaked 9" pie shells

Steps:

  • 1. Mix together eggs,sugars,syrups,butter, vanilla, and pecan pieces. Pour filling into pie shells. Arrange whole pecan halves around the inside edge of the pies. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce the heat to 350 degrees then bake at 40 minutes or until center is firm. Cool to room temperature before cutting.
