So Tender Swiss Steak image

Easy good tender

Number Of Ingredients 13

1/4 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 lb round steak..cut into serving size pieces
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 medium onion..thinly sliced
2 c water
2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
GRAVY
1/4 c flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 1/4 c beef broth or water(i like broth)

Steps:

  • 1. In a shallow bowl,combine flour,salt & pepper. Dredge steak a few pieces at a time. Pound with a mallet(or edge of plate). In a Dutch oven,brown steak in oil on all sides. Arrange onion slices between layers of meat. Add water & worcestershire sauce. Cover and bake 325 for 2-21/2 hours or until meat is very tender. Remove to a serving platter & keep warm.
  • 2. In a small bowl,combine gravy ingredients until smooth;stir into pan juices. Bring to a boil over medium heat-cook & stir 2 minutes. Serve steak& gravy over noodles or mashed potatoes if desired.
