Slow Cooker Italian Sausage and Peppers in Crockpot - Southern Plate image

Sweet and savory, this slow cooker Italian sausage and peppers in crockpot recipe is so easy and makes a great weeknight or game day dinner.

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 lbs sweet Italian sausage links
1 cup sliced red bell peppers (approximately two peppers)
1/2 cup sliced yellow bell peppers (approximately one pepper)
1 cup yellow onion, sliced
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Hoagie buns, optional

Steps:

  • Over medium heat, sear the sausage links on the stovetop on both sides, until the skin is lightly browned.
  • Transfer the sausage links to the slow cooker and top sausage links with the sliced veggies, chicken broth, and seasoning. Toss gently to mix ingredients well.
  • Cook on low for 5 to 6 hours. Internal temperature should reach 165 degrees.
  • After cooking time, remove from the slow cooker and serve with hoagie buns.
