Sloppy Joes image

This recipe came from a friend way back in my childhood. However, I have changed it a bit to suit myself. The recipe just came as a list of ingredients, and I thought I would write down the amounts for safe keeping. So adjust to your liking.

Number Of Ingredients 15

2 lbs ground meat
3 tablespoons liquid smoke
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
16 ounces ketchup
6 ounces chili sauce
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1/2 cup water
1/2 onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper, diced
3 tablespoons molasses
salt and pepper or seasoning salt
8 small hamburger buns (smaller size)
butter
onion, sliced
8 slices cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Brown Meat, drain and then add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, cover and let simmer while preparing the buns. Butter the Buns and toast them either on a stove top griddle or under the broiler. Serve hot with sliced onions and cheddar cheese.
