These scones just came out of the oven. They smell and look amazing. I love scones and usually have to add either orange or lemon zest to perk up the WOW factor. This recipe comes from Kitchen Aid-3 Cookbooks In 1. The picture is mine.

Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease large baking sheet or line with parchment paper; set aside. Beat 2 eggs, cream and vanilla in medium bowl; set aside.
- 2. Conbine flour, baking powder and salt in medium bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in dates, raisins and orange zest if using. Add cream mixture; mix until dry ingredients are moistened.
- 3. With floured hands, knead dough 4 times on lightly floured surface. Place dough on prepared baking sheet; pat into 8-inch circle. With sharp wet knife, gently score dough into 6 wedges, cutting three-fourths of the way through dough. Beat remaining egg with water; brush lightly over dough.
- 4. Bake 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes on wire rack. Cut into wedges. Serve warm with marmalade and whipped cream, if desired.
